We
Were
Married~
Still loving the sleeves on my wedding dress,
...the ribbon sash,
...lacey bodice,
...ribbon tie in the back,
...the train,
...and my handmade veil~
Who would have thought
we would be at this time in our lives
so soon.
Seems like just yesterday.
The years have flown by so fast.
Although I must confess...
we
ELOPED.
Never got to wear my dress
so sad I know...
what WAS I thinking.
{who knows at the age of 18}
The pure white color has mellowed to
a soft cream,
and it hangs upstairs in my guest room
It is still beautiful to me today.

Oh Sandi.... Time does pass so quickly. We are only 9 years away from our 50th & I look at him & still see the young man I married. I just hope he sees the young woman he married.

Yes, time does go so quickly!! I can't believe my husband and I have been married for nearly 16 years!! We both agree it feels more like 8!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dress and veil. It is very sad you didn't get to wear it. I hope your elopement was exiting and fun at least, since the aftermath was probably pretty unpleasant! My mom's family is still unhappy about my uncle's elopement and that was back in the 1960s!! Happy Anniversary to you two lovebirds. Your baby photos are SO sweet!! ReplyDeleteI didn't have a wedding dress at all! (We were, "That's so materialistic" hippys.) Maybe next year on our 3oth I'll get one? I don't mind that we didn't have a wedding though, I probably would have fainted or thrown up if I had to be in a wedding!
