A faithful friend is the medicine of life...

...Ecclesiastes 6:16

I found this utensil/glass holder at Maribeth's when my sister was home visiting.
I adore it and just had to pick it up.

It spins and twirls and is so neat.

More buckets that I found on clearance at
TJ Maxx last week. The only two they had left.

Now...do you have a friend who is
your best and dearest friend??

One that will stick with you no matter
what??

I do and I am so thankful for her and
for what she means to me! {Peggy this is for you}

Her and I have sent each other cards for YEARS.
{even though we only live about 10 miles apart)
We send cards for birthdays, anniversaries,
and any other day you can think up...even no reason
cards! We have amassed quite a few and have slowed
down somewhat over the past several months. Part
of the reason due to card stores closing around here
and also because we have sent each other just about
every card out there!! LOL

One day we were chatting on the phone and she said, "I bought you something at a garage sale...just pretend
it is a card"...and the same thing was said in another
conversation and...when we finally got together
for HER birthday...
she gave me all kinds of treasures!

This silver bowl, the vintage silverware tied in a pretty
white ribbon, these vintage gloves and the wool sweater
in the photo above with the flower pin on it. I was blown away!! I love it all so much! I felt like
it was my birthday!

She is such a sweetheart and
no... I won't share her. lol. Thank you so much dear friend and may you
be blessed many times over for your kindness
to me!

I hope each one of you has a friend like I do...
they truly are the "medicine of life".

Blessings~

While I was out and about...

and you were inside,
just look at all the wonderful goodies I found.

These were marked as vintage bingo pieces.
I have never seen any like these, but whatever they are
I love them.

I also found an old game with these adorable
small cards inside. I need to find more of these!

Love these three spindles.
Not sure what I will do with them yet, but
had to pick them up.

corks, corks, corks....
$1.00 for a large bag at the goodwill.
Yep, I counted them...56.

vintage hangers at a garage/estate sale
a couple dollars for these and more.

not one...not two...but three vintage scrabble games!

I had not been able to find them for a long time and I found all these the same day! One at a sale for 75 cents, the other two at the goodwill. yay!

The thing about having a booth at the antique store is that I have to shop to keep it stocked! What a shame. I know most of us do not like to do that. lol!

Have a beautiful Friday!

Aged Silver ~

My BF gave me all this silver a few weeks ago and
it sat on my buffet just like this until I
could decide what I wanted to do with it~
doesn't it have the most gorgeous patina ~ I was inspired by Janis over at JunkDreams and I embellished a creamer and sugar. I love how they turned out ~ More silverware that I also embellished with words of inspiration~
Lots of crushed glass silver glitter ornaments that
I made to put in my booth.
I am loving silver with a time worn patina...
how about you? Blessings~

Old Doors,Friends and Silverware ~

I picked this wood piece with the handle up a few years ago at a huge antique mall. Love it...paint splatters and all...might have been part of an old door at some point. It is now part of my display in my laundry room ~
There was a parade of garage sales Friday a few miles up the road so I threw hubby in the car and off we went. I do save money when I don't take him along, but I knew he wanted to go so I agreed. LOL
What was my bargain of the day you ask?? So happy to tell you...THREE old white doors for $1.00 each!!! I was in heaven! One of them even has a glass doorknob...LOVE them! Now to figure out what I am going to do with them next~ We actually purchased the doors and went on to other garage sales and then had to schlep back home and get the truck and return to pick up the doors. I really wanted an old white dresser too, but as usual I wait a little too long and it was gone! I told hubby, "oh it was there last year they will still have it...I will get it when we pick up the doors"...NOT! It was gone! So pretty too. Oh well... there are always other sales~
These beautiful silver spoons look kinda beat and battered , but I love the beautiful handles so I picked them up too~ Couldn't pass up this friends frame...now I have to find some friends who want their picture taken with me...that may take some time. I had a photo that I really wanted to put in here of my best friend and I , but it is portrait mode instead of landscape. Maybe my son can fix that for me. Hmmm...
Hope you enjoyed my simple finds today and I wish you a lovely day ~ Blessings~

Look What 62 Cents Can Buy ~

I have been really watching my pennies lately, but I did stop in at a local thrift store last week and everything was half off. First I found 8 of these antique glass prisms in a bag for 25 cents so they were only 12 cents!!!! Then I found two of these plates that were regular 50 cents each for 25 cents each. I was thrilled that I only spent 62 cents and got some wonderful goodies! Still on a high finding those prisms!
Love this silverware that I have collected here and there ~
I adore this photo that I put in my shabby ceiling tile frame. Another gorgeous photograph that I purchased from Alice over at Painted White a while ago. She is an amazing photographer!
More silver and an old corsage that I love as well ~
Have a wonderful day filled with unexpected blessings ~

Antique Silverware~

Don't you just love antique silverware...especially *PRETTY* silverware? I do and I decided it was time to polish some of my pieces again today. I picked out a few pieces that I especially love to share with you.

I think the *ROSE* and *SWIRL* motifs on each of the ladels is just beautiful. My mother gave me the *SWIRL* motif ladel for my birthday several years ago and it also has a monogram *B* on the handle. (for my last name) I think it is so pretty...and the roses on the other ladel are just to die for!

The weather is much better here today. Who would have thought that we would think 32 degrees is warm...like a heat wave! LOL It is much nicer than the bone chilling cold we have been having for several days. I even walked to the mailbox today without a coat and thought it was so nice! I suppose it is all relative. I hope you are having a wonderful day today! Blessings ~

Antiquing in Allen, Michigan

I went antiquing today in Allen, Michigan and came home with a few treasures. I got a lovely vintage hat, a vintage baby bonnet, this adorable family picture, two silver spoon key rings and a gorgeous tablecloth! Love this old vintage hat and it was only $2.00...couldn't pass it up.
Aren't these key rings neat? I love how they are made out of old silverware. They were $1.00 each and I thought that was a steal. The baby bonnet is precious also. I love the ribbon. Here is the lace tablecloth that I purchased....it is very old and has no holes, but it has a few stains that I need to work on getting out, but it is even so gorgeous as is. I will take a picture of it on a table soon so you can see just how gorgeous it really is. Enjoy and Happy Tuesday!

Pumpkin Scones

I whipped up some pumpkin scones today and they are so delicious! I also made some mock Devonshire cream to go with them. I have eaten two so far... One with cream and one without before I got the cream made. Just yummy and perfect for fall!
