What I've been up to...

I just realized today that I haven't posted for about nine days so thought I would hop in
here and tell you what I have been up to.

I picked up some acorns on a walk one day...

...and it turned into a mini photo shoot. Hubby
and I have been walking every other day or rather trying to get it in every other day and I
am loving it...him, not so much! ha! I am amazed at the different kinds of acorns that
we have been finding. Here I thought they were all alike. Not so...maybe I can get
some more pictures taken one of these days. :)

I  bought this tutorial for these beautiful angel wings from Dawn...

over at The Feathered Nest and I can't wait to get some made.

{photo above taken by Dawn}

I mailed a package to Indiana because a little sweetie of ours turned FIVE this past week...

My oldest son's daughter.
Her mommy posted the following on facebook and it just brought tears to my eyes.
If all little ones could have a mommy like this , how great our world would be!

"Today my precious girl turns 5...5!!!!! "A whole hand mommy!!" Hard to believe,,
but I am so proud of the smart and beautiful and spunky and energetic and
individualistic girl she has become! She challenges my thinking daily.  I'm so
excited for the next 5 years and beyond! "

I had a photo shoot with my youngest son's family...

I took over 400 photos. They sure took a while to wade through, but we got some goodies. :)

I even had to work with a *little* attitude, but it was still a fun day...

I loved taking photos of my sweeties...

I hopped in the car one day and drove up and down our dirt roads and found some
amazing color...

I ate this delicious donut that my bff brought me...

{but not all at once!}

It was like none I have ever had. From a bakery called Rise and Roll

SO YUMMY...and huge!!

I about shouted with glee when my bff brought along these beautiful hydrangeas for me...

I thought this shed was a beauty while out cruising the countryside...

I snapped this photo of Annika before she could move again...

I have been a busy beaver, but it has been a fun couple weeks...

Hope you all are doing well and that your lives are filled with
unexpected blessings daily!

A drive to remember

I wandered the back roads of Michigan yesterday {and a few in Ohio} and what a glorious trip it was.
The color is spectacular right now and just perfect for taking photos.

Beautiful trees along with corn just waiting to be harvested.
A gorgeous tree ablaze in color.

This is just a little ways down the road from where we live. Maybe a mile or so.
The farmer was combining and what a perfect photo opportunity.
I thought the bare tree was interesting standing in front of all the gorgeous colored trees.
Again...just down the road a bit...wagons in the field.
Then I came home to THIS...I hopped out of my car after turning into our driveway, aimed the camera
and took a few pics.

Beautiful...I call it God's handiwork!
Love this little building and I almost missed it. I was driving down the road a couple miles away
and saw this shed nestled back into the brush. I had to back up my car to get this photo. No one was on the
road except me, so I could take my time getting the shots I wanted.
BREATHTAKING BEAUTY!
Today hubby and I drove around the county and ended up at the Hillsdale College Arboretum
again and I snapped a few pictures there as well. Not so much color, but pretty walkways.

This was driving down a road in Ohio into a nature preserve called Goll Woods. I want to
drive back over there sometime this week and take the nature walk before all the color is gone.

Blogger  is keeping  me in a constant state of confusion as I wonder each day what issues it will have.
I have had a terrible time leaving comments on some blogs and since last night I am having problems
uploading pictures. Add that to dial-up internet and that is a recipe for disaster. This week the only blogs
I could leave comments on are the ones that had the pop up box or the whole page, but not the ones
with the comment box under the comments.  What is a girl to do? I can’t sit here all day to leave one
or two comments, so I have to give up even though I hate to. Hopefully they will get resolved soon??

October gave a party...

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow, The Oaks in crimson dressed; The lovely Misses Maple In scarlet looked their best; All balanced to their partners, And gaily fluttered by; The sight was like a rainbow New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow, At hide-and-seek they played, The party closed at sundown, And everybody stayed. Professor Wind played louder; They flew along the ground; And then the party ended In jolly "hands around." ~George Cooper, October's Party

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one autumnal face.
~John Donne

We have taken a couple afternoon drives lately to enjoy the beautiful fall color that shows itself so abundantly in Michigan and the photos in this post
are some that I snapped along the way.

our home

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~George Eliot

Enjoy this beautiful autumn day! Blessings~

Fall in Michigan {and Godzilla} ~

What's not to
love
about fall in Michigan~ It is the one time of year that
I am glad I live here~
beautiful little pumpkins admist the falling leaves ~
my front yard awash in brilliant colored foliage ~
I don't think I would get much raking done with
this, but it made for a good picture...lol ~
beautiful trees in my front yard ~
gorgeous mums ~
sunlight blending with the flowers~
I took the above photo at the greenhouse~
I don't even want to think of raking these...
they look so pretty~
majestic tree at my home ~

I am just beside myself because our electic company
is out and about trimming trees away from the
electric lines. They will decide whether to totally
cut down our trees or trim them. I pray that they only trim them
or yours truly just may
have to stage a
Sit in ~
The trees do look awful after a trimming. They look like a giant Godzilla came along and
took huge bites out of them and they look
strange...
but I would much rather have that than
to lose the trees. These are the only trees
in the front yard and we don't
have many in the back yard either.
Keeping my fingers crossed ~ Blessings~
