I started with an old wooden berry picking box...

 ...laid it on it's side and started embellishing. {it was already painted white}

First I added white cheesecloth and then an angel graphic from The Graphics Fairy. I glued lace around the edge of the angel photo and then I added a feather, tag and tiny vintage ornaments.

I LOVE the wonderful patina that is found on old Christmas ornaments. You just can't get that in new ornaments.

I thought for a sudden burst of creativity that it turned out pretty good.
What do you think?

First time around I added a candle {and I even lit it}, but that was before I added the feather and I really didn't want my home going up in flames, so I opted for the vintage ornaments instead. You could use a battery powered votive though and I think it would work just fine. I see all kinds of possibilities with these embellished with holy cards and candles etc.  I hope to work on some more after the holidays.

Decorating in silver and white {and sprigs of green}

Sharing a few more photos of my Christmas decor that I finished up yesterday. I purchased two bundles of greens from *the big box store* for $5 each {in the live flower section} and it really went a long way. This is a very long shelf in my kitchen that my daddy made for me years ago...out of oak...I painted it white a couple years ago , but we won't tell anyone. :)

This chair also sits in my kitchen and I love decorating it for the different seasons.
I picked up a few of the paper ball glitter ornies at Pottery Barn this past February on clearance for little of nothing. I love them. They are so pretty and sparkly.

My beautiful Joyeux Noel cone that I found on Etsy. I put some greens in it and then added a vintage sprig of berries.  {It still has the original Japan label on it}

My basket prettied up for the season.

I still adore my vintage silver ornies and try to pick unique ones up whenever I can. I purchased a few of the mercury glass trumpet ornies at Pottery Barn this past February on clearance for peanuts.
Sorry there is glare in this photo. The lighting has not been good at all so I had to use the flash.

A cute little sleigh that I found at Hobby Lobby a few years ago holding a vintage SILENT NIGHT ornament.

I picked up two of these linen stockings at the sidewalk sale this past summer. $2 each and they are monogrammed with *S* on the points of the cuff. I think it was meant to be. This hangs on my bathroom door.

A little fake charlie brown tree in my living room.

Wings and stars that I created that are also sitting on my long shelf in the kitchen. Should have got a photo of the whole shelf. oops.

Love my zinc pots and tart pans from Belgium. These are sitting on my windowsill also in the kitchen.
Hope you enjoyed your mini tour of my home decorated for Christmas!!

A little more Christmas...

We went to another Christmas program last night that
sweet gd Annika was in. Thankfully this time she did not
stick out her tongue. lol. We stopped by their house
afterwards and spent some time our son and his family.
I threatened to hide that adorable little baby in my
leather briefcase and bring her on home with me,
but I would not have made it past the front door. lol.

A little candle glow to start out your week

I made these star ornaments last year and I still
love them. I embellished them with clear glass glitter
and they just sparkle and shine.

I found all three of these candleholders at the Goodwill last week. I love most anything mercury glass style so it didn't take me long to scoop up these two. {50 cents each and they are quite large}

Glittery wreath ornies that I found at Kohls.

This basket hangs on the inside of my kitchen door.

A glimpse of my bedroom...

Just perfect for *dreaming*.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. You do realize
that Christmas is Saturday right?? :) My how the time has
flown once again this year. I just can't figure out where it went!

Blessings~

Last of Christmas ~

I finally took all the ornaments off of my Christmas tree yesterday to put them away for another year and I loved the way they looked so I snapped a few pictures. I can't believe I had my tree up this long, but it was so pretty and out of the way so I wasn't really in a hurry to take it down. Enjoy the last of my Christmas decor...until Christmas 2009. Blessings! Sandi

Changes Coming...

With a new year come new changes and I am ready. I have wanted to change my blog template for quite some time now and have put it off, but I am going to take the plunge. I did tweak a few thing today such as fonts and colors etc. , but I am still not satisfied. I will be browsing for a new template and hope to have one in the works very soon...but you never can really tell how long this will take especially since I am still on dial-up internet...I know ,I know...I am back in the dark ages . That means it takes me 10-50 times longer for pages to load (depending on the day and the weather) so this may be a long drawn out process , but I will persevere. In the meantime, I will continue posting and reading other beautiful blogs that I have come to love. Blessings!

Antique Mercury Glass Ornaments

I absolutely love anything that is antique mercury glass or silver. I have accumulated quite a few very old silver Christmas ornaments and once again, I happened to start collecting these right before the prices went sky high . I have displayed several of them in my large apothcary jar and I love the look. I have taken pictures from different sides so you can see all the amazing shapes of these old ornaments. I also have some displayed on my tree and other places around my home, but I love this look ! Blessings!

Hobby Lobby Silver Treasures

I went to Hobby Lobby last night looking for items for our church bazaar and found some treasures for myself as well. I love vintage mercury glass and was thrilled to find these vintage look ornaments. They look like the old glass and they will make a perfect addition to my Christmas tree this year. Have a blessed Friday!
