Vintage suitcases and Paper-whites...

...have absolutely nothing in common except that I took pictures of both today. ha!

{or maybe suitcases full of paper-whites?? How fun would that be!}

I love this bench that I purchased over a year ago from a dear blogging friend.

Isn't it amazing???

She is so uber talented and I just love her shop and all her goodies.

I have told her that it is a good thing that I don't live very close to her shop or I
would be in trouble!

I am also thinking as of late with all the vintage suitcases I now own
I should be traveling!! :)

PAPER-WHITES

I decided to plant some paper-whites today. Oh, I know everyone else is way ahead of me.
But...I love a bargain and a bargain these were!!
Marked wayyy down since it is after Christmas so I purchased a few and got to planting.

I'm kinda messy...shh, please don't tell anyone!

Three containers all planted up and ready for these babies to

GROW!

Wouldn't this be a fun way to give these as a gift?

I have always hated to throw out the pretty cardboard containers that some of them
come in so today I made tags out of them.

I would love these every year as a gift because it brings such a bright spot of spring to
the cold winter days.

I took a break shortly after I planted all my bulbs...a gal has to keep up her strength you know.
Yummy!!

Do you plant paper-whites?  I would love to hear about it.
I am not so sure about Amaryllis...I have some planted , but they don't
seem to be doing much. Time will tell.

I pray that each of you have a wonderful rest of the week and that abundant
blessings fill your life!

Blessings~

Winter in Bloom

We had to run to town yesterday and hubby bought this for me as an early Christmas gift.

I had looked at these a few weeks ago and thought they were so pretty, but didn't bring one home.

Yesterday...HALF OFF!

(Gotta love a bargain)

LOVE the french design on the container. I haven't googled yet to get it translated, but I will.

This is what they are supposed to look like when in bloom.

WISH ME L.U.C.K!

I do not have a green thumb for inside transplants.

I was very surprised at the huge bulbs.

The bulb on the left was busting out of the container when he purchased it.

Have you ever tried to grow one of these? Please give me your tips if you have.

I need all the help I can get. ha!

Christmas is almost here...BLESSINGS!

Antique Christmas Ornaments

I have been sorting out all my Christmas items and just had to share some of my beautiful
very old ornaments with you. I have a thing for "treasures from the past" as I know many
of you do also. Here are just a few of mine...

Several of these are so old that they are almost paper thin and have lost a lot of their
color, but they are still beautiful!

Don't you just love this amazing glitter?

I don't know why, but every time I see the above ornament, it reminds me of the Star-ship
Enterprise on Star Trek! lol

In case you are interested, these are now listed over on my ebay site. You can click here to
be taken there.

Happy week ahead and Happy Thanksgiving!!

White Wednesday Narcissus ~

paper - white narcissus
{pey-per-hwahyt ,-wahyt}
-noun
a daffodil {narcissus papyraceus} having star shaped,
pure white flowers and often grown indoors
in pebbles and water for winter blooming.

tied with vintage lace to keep them upright ~
they had just started to open in the
photo above ~

I have never attempted growing bulbs in the winter until
this year. I found some after Christmas half off so I decided
to take the plunge and try.

These flowers did not disappoint!

All I had to do was plant them in the soil that came
in the container with the bulbs, give them a drink of
water and watch them grow.
And grow they have!
Today I measured them and they stand a
whopping 26.5 inches tall above the container. I tied vintage lace around them a few days ago so
they would stay upright and not flop over.
I am loving them and will definitely grow them
from now on.

I urge you to give them a try if you haven't
before. You will be pleasantly surprised.
