In between holidays

I haven't put away all my winter decor yet and here it is almost Valentines Day!


I have a red glitter LOVE banner {Wendy Addison} that looks exactly like
the one pictured on the card above, but I haven't dug it out yet.

I tend to forget where I put things and then it takes me awhile to find them.
Anyone else do that? I fear it is getting worse the older I get.

 I vow to be more organized someday.
 

I told you...mixing Christmas with Valentines. HA!

I really ought to take the greenery and pine-cones down today.
 I love the very old little glass bell that is on this piece of ironstone.

Did I ever tell you that I got this piece of ironstone on the RTE 127 sales last year for

ONE DOLLAR?

It was in a box along with other old bottles and it was the find of the day.

Dirty and sad looking, but I cleaned her up. No chips, but some crazing and a little
discoloring. Kinda like me..lol

This is a piece that I picked up at the Goodwill for another dollar.

I used to find a lot of goodies at that store, but now not so much.
 It is a GOOD DAY when I hit the jackpot though.

These little butter pats were also found on the RTE 127 sale for $1.00 each.

They had a huge bin of them. I have since thought that I should have bought more.

{Hmm... ONE DOLLAR seems to be the going rate on this post}

I found the four bowls underneath the one on top at the Goodwill and they are ironstone as well.

I think they were 50 cents each, but we will say 2/$1.00. *SMILE*

Another little piece of LOVE that I have added to my decor. 

I won't tell you what I paid for this pitcher, but it was the same price as other items
in this post...*wink*wink*

Well, this post started out about holidays and somehow it ended up telling you about all my
dollar treasures.  That is what happens to me a lot. I start one thing and find several other
along the way that get me sooo distracted. It is a fun distraction though so I will embrace it.

Photo collage and a review

When Lauren from Cardstore contacted me and wanted to know if I would like to do a review
of one of their cards it was not hard to say yes!

I quickly clicked over to their website and found so many fun cards to choose from. From birthday
to anniversary to just because and more.

My subject was also a no-brainer! I would make a card for our two little granddaughters who just moved
over 1200 miles away. These are the two that we saw often since they lived close to us and it just isn't
the same without them here. It is quite an adjustment and it is taking time. I find myself throughout the
days just reminiscing about the fun times we have had over the past few years. Thank God for skype
and telephones, but is isn't the same as holding them close!

As you can see from the photo, I choose a photo collage card with a chalkboard background and I love
how it turned out. I hope that every time they look at the card they remember the memories we made
and the fun times we have had. I realized later I should have added a photo of me and hubby
also, but I thought about that a little too late. :(

I chose to put my own saying on the inside of the card. Rather cute huh? Well,
truthfully I googled and found part of it. 

I thought it was very easy to navigate through the process of making this card online.  There are several
different styles and themes that you can choose from and it was fun deciding what one to pick.

I really enjoyed the process, but this being my first time I had to edit and edit and edit some more. ha!
When I was satisfied with the card and all my edits, I could have chose to have it shipped directly to my
grand-girls or to myself.  I had it sent to me so I could personalize it and then I sent it on it's way.

{Side note: It was really hard not to keep it for myself and hang it on my refrigerator!! *Smile*}

It arrived in a couple of days in a nice sturdy cardboard envelope along with FOUR envelopes!
I expected a couple envelopes in case I made a mistake while addressing it, but not four. I would
 say that was very generous. I was also glad that the cardboard envelope was as sturdy as it was
 because sometimes my post office bends things right in the middle that should not be bent
 before delivering them to me. Even magazines!
WHO does that?? 

Here are my sweeties with their card!  According to their daddy they were very happy as I
 am sure any grandchild would be to receive a fun card like this. They asked their daddy about
 each photo and I so enjoyed making it for them. I would highly recommend this site and I
can't wait to make another card.

Once again I have been overwhelmingly blessed

by my bestest and dearest friend in the whole

wide world.

Remember the post I did a couple days ago when

I went to that neat garage sale and found lots of

seam binding and other goodies?

Well...

...my dear friend Peggy happened to go to the same sale

{before I did}

and she picked up a couple things for me.

We met for lunch Friday at

Seasons Coffee and Bistro

and she handed me a bag with tissue paper

sticking out of it.

I knew it was not my birthday...

and certainly not Christmas,

{ain't ready for that yet!}

but just a regular day.

I was so surprised and giddy at the same time.

The first thing I pulled out of the bag was this

gorgeous glass shaker with the silver top.

I was stunned to find out when I got home that it

matched perfectly with my salt and peppers that I

found earlier this summer.

Love it when that happens!

She also gave me a cream color vintage pottery planter that is wonderful too, but I didn't get a picture taken of it yet. Maybe I can add it to my white Wednesday post this week.

Do you have a best friend?? I truly pray that you do and if you don't that one will come across your pathway soon. I can't imagine what I would do without her in my life. She is my go to person, we talk...and talk...and talk some more and she makes me laugh so hard at times I almost pee my pants. {now that is quite a friend...or it could be my age too. lol.}

Her life has gotten much busier, {she is a grandma now to two little ones and a farmer's wife...busy, busy, busy} and it seems that we are off running in different directions most of the time , but I pray that we always make the time for each other. always...always...always!

Pretty Paper and a Goodwill Find ~

I don't know if I have ever shared this before , but I ADORE beautiful paper...notecards, greeting cards, etc. I pick it up whenever I find some that is a good price whether it is vintage or new. I love purchasing notecards at Home Goods and TJ Maxx...they have very high quality *PRETTY* paper items and very good prices.

I found this little card rack at a Goodwill store last week. (one I have never been to before) In one part of the store nothing has a price on it. You just take what you want to the register and they give you a price. Usually I am very hesitant about that because I figure they will want a lot of money if there is no price. So I thought okay...I will see what they say....whispering to myself, "if they want $10 for this thing then they can keep it"....LOL...I asked "how much" and she said $1.00 !! I was thrilled! So now I have a card display for some of my pretty notecards. It spins around and has 12 different places for cards. I want to add a finial to the top along with some ribbon or something to *pretty* it up.

Happy Valentines Day & Pink Saturday ~

I just had to share some of my vintage valentine cards with you today. I found three boxes of *GORGEOUS* vintage cards at a garage sale a few years ago for $1.00 a box and this first one is one of my favorites. It is covered in pink glitter and just sparkles! Maybe not too many people around here love vintage paper items like I do because the sale had already been going for a few hours when I arrived....or it was just meant to be. God loves to give us the desires of our heart! Another beautiful vintage greeting card...love the colors on this one!

I had to pick up this book when I found it in an antique mall for $1.oo! After all it is *PINK* and the words say it all...with all my heart. I purchased the necklace online and love it as well.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

...there'll be much mistletoe-ing and hearts will be glowing when loved ones are near...It's the most wonderful time of the year".

Once again the holidays are coming way to fast for me. It seems we just get one over with and the next one is upon us. I get so overwhelmed at times, but amid all the hustle and bustle and busyness of our lives I do try not to forget the true meaning of Christmas... God sending his only son into this world that we might have eternal life ... I can picture that tiny babe in a manger and am so thankful for His sacrifice for me.

I absolutely love old paper of any kind and I scanned a few of my vintage Christmas cards and booklets. The one titled "A Christmas Carol" is a Raphael Tuck and sons booklet that is in mint condition. I paid only $1.00 for it a few years ago at an antique store and it is a favorite of mine. The little star booklet (by Ernest Nister) is also mint and the cards are so nice as well. Love the colors on all of these!

Birthdays and Blessings

I love this blessings sign that I have hanging in a guest room . Love the scrolls and the brown and blue tones. Be sure to count your blessings today! I thought I would share a gift that I wrapped for a friend. I used vintage wallpaper, vintage ribbon and a vintage millinery flower as well. I printed the Happy Birthday banner on the computer and attached it. I was very pleased with the way it turned out. So to everyone that has a birthday today...Happy Birthday and many blessings in the coming year!
