Belated Christmas

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and share a few belated Christmas photos.

We had Christmas with  my parents and our children this past weekend. Yep, kinda late
but that is what worked out best. As it turned out our oldest son and his family were sick
with that nasty flu so they didn't get to come and we missed them a lot!

My mom has always had the kids dress up at Christmas time and this year our grands were
the stars. :)

Baby Daniel playing with his drum that we bought for him.  Just look at that big
smile! Too cute!

I think at one time during the day most all the kids played with the drum. I am beginning to think that I should
have gotten a drum for everyone. Wouldn't that have made a great photo!! :)
These photos were taken at my youngest sons home.

Anticipation...

Back to my parents house again...my dad reading the Christmas story with my sister and her hubby
in the background.

So glad I got these photos of my dad...love him to pieces!

Precious memories in the making.

Another late night phone call

Just once I want someone to call me
late at night and say: we have really good news...
but it doesn't happen that way does it?

I received another phone call from my mother last night
at 11:30 pm and she told me they had taken my father
to the hospital again by EMS .
He was having severe breathing problems.

When we arrived at the hospital an EMT told us that
he given them quite a scare. They had to radio ahead
and meet someone part way and get them on board
to administer meds to him.

His breathing appeared very labored and he
told me it was much better than it had been.
I can't imagine.

From the ER doctor we heard words like:

congestive heart failure

fluid on the lungs

you need to get
reacquainted with your heart doctor

We will find out what today brings.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Blessings~

Christmas for others ~

I love my parents dearly and I wanted to share with you
what they have been doing for Christmas the past few years.

Instead of buying gifts for the adults, mom and dad
send money to help others out and then let each of us know
what the money from "our gifts" purchased.
This year this typewritten note was included in a bag of
homemade goodies that mom made for hubby and I.

"As military personnel serve the cause of freedom this holiday
season, they face dangers and challenges daily.
They need God's word to give them direction, hope,
courage, peace and comfort. Your gift will help provide
a special camouflage-covered New Testament with
Psalms and Proverbs to 13 of our brave men and
women serving in uniform".

I can think of no better way to use money that would
have been spent on us for something else to stash
in our homes. Sharing the love...
Blessings~

Button Integrity ~

integrity {in-teg-ri-tee}
soundness of moral character; honesty
{please realize that I am not posting this to bring
any glory to me whatsoever, but to thank my parents
for raising me with integrity}

A lady had so much fun shopping at one of her favorite
antique stores and was so excited when she found
exactly what she was looking for
buttons...
ivory buttons.
lots of buttons.

this lady wanted to make button swags and
button ornaments and many other goodies with the buttons
so she purchased several cards of them
{and a couple jars too}

when she got home and happened to look at her receipt
after unloading her goodies...

*gasp*

she had been undercharged
$8

somehow the clerk at the antique store had
missed charging her for all the buttons on the cards

the lady's first and only thought was
I must make this right.

after all she had the beautiful buttons in her hand.
so...off she went to put a check in the mail.

I am so glad that integrity was instilled in me
at a very young age.
Thank you mom and dad~ I love you both so much!!

Blessings~

52 Years of Love ~ Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad

My parents 52nd Anniversary is today and I took a trip down memory lane back to their 50th anniversary party that we held for them two years ago. I did all the planning, decorations and I also made the invitations and favors. Please take a moment and reminisce with me... Aren't they just the cutest couple ever?? This is their cake that I ordered...the best cake ever!!!! There is a local gal who makes the most delicious and moist cakes ever and we call it "Kristy cake" because her name is Kristy. We go to events around here and say ," Is that Kristy cake"...seriously....I have never had any better. She can make any design also. I just took her a picture and she made this gorgeous cake!
More pictures of the cake and decor...I am looking at this picture now and thinking we should have used real silverware and not plastic, but at the time we thought it was a good idea.
The invitations that I made...I don't have photo shop or anything so just made these in word processor and believe me it took me many hours and days to get them just right, but it was worth every minute I spent. I love the saying on it, "Your love is a treasured gift...we request no other"....
A photo board I put together of old pictures....sorry for the glare. The card in the middle is very pretty and has 50th anniversary printed on it...I believe I got it at Hallmark.
More decorations....we had moms wedding dress and her shoes displayed as well.
I had a lot of old pictures copied in sepia tones and did them like scrapbook pages and had these sitting on the round tables for the centerpieces.
My daughter and son-in-law also made a dvd of hundreds of pictures through the years and they were all done in sepia tones as well. They made a gorgeous cover and also the dvd was amazing. Maybe I can find pictures of that and add it later. My parents mean so much to me and I thank God every day for their lives and for bringing me up in a Christian home. Have a blessed day!
