Antique, Junque and a prayer request!

It sure has been a long time since I posted so I thought I would play catch up.

Well, kinda.
I have been busy making signs and I am loving it.

My youngest son keeps me supplied with pallets so I figure I better strike
while the iron's hot. lol. You never know when your source will "dry up".

The ones above are my latest signs. I was inspired by some signs that Knick of Time
showed awhile ago on facebook.

I dug out some rusty, crusty hinges that I have had laying around and added them.

 Perfecto!

I have also been making a few of these signs. I have four made now, but need to get
a frame around each one. I LOVE this scripture verse. One of my very favorites!

JUNKIN" is always fun right?

...and who doesn't love to go exploring?? I know I do!
Especially in an old abandoned barn or house!

Mr. Wayside Treasure and myself went on a antiquing trip a couple weekends
ago and I found a couple things. This chair being one of them.
Isn't it SWEET??

I also found two of these doors that I intend to makeover with
PAINT.
Oh yes, I do!

I think the pickin's are slim anymore. Are you finding the same where you live?
I used to go antiquing on a weekly basis and pick up reasonably priced items
that I could make over and then make a profit, but not so much anymore.

I can't wait to hit the yard sales this year. Now let's see if I actually have that much
gumption when the time actually comes. lol!!

Before I say goodbye today could I please ask a favor of you??

My 25 year old niece is VERY sick. She was in the hospital a few weeks ago for a week
and got out for maybe two weeks. Then right back in again and has been in for two
weeks this time. She is not getting better. PLEASE pray that God will touch her and
heal her body. She is a beautiful young lady that loves the Lord and she is a joy
and a blessing to her family and we need her well!!

Thank you so much!!!

Busy as a Bee!

I had this post up once and lost it while editing. OOPS. Sorry.

I have been busy , busy, busy  making pallet trees and I am enjoying making them.

My friend Marian over at Vintage Barn Market has been selling them in her store
for me and they are selling fast. She is a sweetheart!  If you have never visited her
you MUST. Just click here to visit her facebook page. She has amazing talent
and she is a dear friend!

{She took the first and last photos in this post of my signs in her booth}

The hubs and I also tried our hand at making a star and pretty much love how it turned out.
We have some tweaking to do, but overall it is a winner.

What have you been busy making? I would love to hear about it.

Blessings~

and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him

Motherhood ...

Motherhood IS a glorious career...don't you think so?

I know there are always the naysayers out there who don't think of
motherhood as a career, but boy is it ever! I remember expecting our first child who turned out
to be our one and only daughter. We headed for the hospital in the wee hours on a Sunday
morning and a little before 9 am we called my parents and told them that they were grandparents.
Of course they were overjoyed and this was just the beginning. Two more little ones eventually
came along...two sons with red hair! We were shocked when the first one had red hair, so even
more so when we had a second one with fiery red hair.  We sure adored these little people that
God had blessed us with.

We loved each one of them the best way we knew how, even though we were NOT perfect parents.
We were beyond blessed to have very healthy children and we decided after three that our quiver
was full...no more pitter patter of little feet at the Boothman household. This mama was very content
with her little family, living out on a dirt road in the country.

Kindergarten, elementary, jr. high, prom, dances, girlfriends, boyfriends, heartache, joy, tears,
laughter, secrets, college , weddings...

The days turned into months, the months into years, the years into decades and here we
are grandparents now to EIGHT. Eight amazing little bodies all full of life and each one
with their own unique personality.  I often wonder where the time has gone!!
It flew by so fast that is seemed just like a blip on the radar screen.

I know you young parents hear it so much until your eyes roll, but it really is true...
Cherish the times you have with your little ones now because before you know it
they will be going off to college , then getting married and you will hear the
pitter patter of little feet once again, but it will be the feet of  your precious little grands.

Yes, we are BLESSED beyond measure and I loved every minute{almost...lol} then
and I love it now. I certainly don't have the stamina I once had and it is good to ship those precious
little grands back home after they visit so I can catch my breath...but life is good!

Good times or bad times... each moment made us into the family we are today and I love it that we
love each other.

Wishing each and every one of my blogging pals the best Mothers Day ever!
Blink your eyes and it will be Mothers Day 2014 and we will start all over again. :)

As promised...and my booth

the other gorgeous vintage card I found while antiquing
{see post below this one for a pink rose card}
{These cards are cardboard and measure
approx. 5 inches x 6 inches}
The perfect size to tuck into a vignette.

I have taken the *plunge* again and am
expanding to a larger booth at the antique
mall. I was tossing around the idea for the past few days
because you can only get so much stuff into a 4 foot x 6 foot
area. I emailed the owner and immediately got a phone call
and she told me she had the perfect booth for me.
It will be on the main aisle and I am so looking forward
to a larger booth. I will also enjoy the hunt for
more stuff to fill it up. Moving day is around April 1.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead. We will be on R and R again, but I will
try to check in every so often.

Almost forgot to tell you that I hit the jackpot
at the Goodwill yesterday. Got two silver pieces,
a chenille spread, two pillows, brand new white battenburg
duvet {still in package} , two candles, and a couple
other goodies. The pillows , spread and duvet were 1/2 off too!

I rarely find anything anymore so I was
a happy camper. In fact, I was in the dressing room
keeping a close eye on my cart through the slats in the door
{ I know I know...pretty obsessive huh}
when someone came in and yelled, "Is this someone's cart out here
with the white blanket {chenille spread} and I said, "Yes".
To which she replied, "OH SHOOT...then I won't root through it.
LOL

One year more blessed ~

I think I need two houses to decorate.
{I didn't say to clean, I said to decorate.lol.}

I love the creams and neutrals nowdays,
but my heart still skips a beat when I find
vintage pieces like this~

I found this at an antique mall when I was at my daughter's
home last weekend...$2.00.
{along with another one that I will share later}

I had picked up a few vintage prayer cards and also
a vintage silver dish and although I really liked them,
I didn't have that
*oh my goodness* feeling
that I get when I find something really special
until... I found these~

They were in the very last booth at the antique mall
and I had to root through old paper items to find
these gems, but it was so worth it!

It's the little things that send me
*over the moon*.

My birthday was yesterday...all day long.
that means I am one year older,
one year wiser, {not sure about this one...lol},
one year crazier,
and one year more blessed!!

Have a beautiful sunshiny Thursday~

Christmas for others ~

I love my parents dearly and I wanted to share with you
what they have been doing for Christmas the past few years.

Instead of buying gifts for the adults, mom and dad
send money to help others out and then let each of us know
what the money from "our gifts" purchased.
This year this typewritten note was included in a bag of
homemade goodies that mom made for hubby and I.

"As military personnel serve the cause of freedom this holiday
season, they face dangers and challenges daily.
They need God's word to give them direction, hope,
courage, peace and comfort. Your gift will help provide
a special camouflage-covered New Testament with
Psalms and Proverbs to 13 of our brave men and
women serving in uniform".

I can think of no better way to use money that would
have been spent on us for something else to stash
in our homes. Sharing the love...
Blessings~

which has caused weariness; to desist from labor or exertion

{ a favorite antique picture hanging in my home} Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest... Exodus 34:21

Today I intend to rest and renew my spirit from the hustle and bustle of this busy season. won't you join me ? Blessings~

What if ....

By nature, I tend to be a worry wart , but God has been
helping me lately to put things in His hands and not worry
so much about things that I can't control anyways.
I thought I was doing pretty good until last night
when a family situation arose that I can't even
begin to control. I had a good cry fest and
got up to this devotion in my email today.
Just what I needed ~

"Jesus calls us to a way of living that gives no thought for
tomorrow and puts our future wholly into His hands.
He tells us,
not to be be anxious or troubled about tomorrow.
When you think about it, most of our anxieties are
about what might happen tomorrow.
We're constantly harrassed by two little words: What if ?
What if the economy fails and I lose my job?
How will I pay the mortgage?
How will my family be able to survive?
And what if I lose my health insurance?
If I get sick or have to be hospitalized
we will be ruined. Or,
What if my faith fails me in trying times?
We all have a thousand "What if "anxieties.

God tells us not to worry about these what if's and
that He will take care of us no matter what happens.
{and I love this next part}
We gladly give all our yesterdays to the Lord,
turning over past sins. We trust Him for forgiveness
of all our past failures, doubts, and fears.
So, why don't we do the same with
our tomorrows.

Blessings~

Vintage Alarm Clocks, Bibles and Oops ~

I was so excited when I found this vintage Baby Ben alarm clock.
{ Isn't he so cute? }
It matches the Big Ben clock exactly that I already have!
Now they sit in my living room happy and content...side by side~
Love old books...especially Bibles~ And now for a chuckle~ I recommend you never sit both of these bottles on your washer at the same time. I was doing a load of laundry yesterday and picked up a bottle and started spraying away at spots on a shirt and then a pair of pants...didn't even realize I was using glass cleaner until I was done and sat it back down! I think I am losing it. It HAS to be my age... Made for a good laugh and thank goodness it didn't ruin the clothes. Have a wonderful day filled with blessings~

Become Like Little Children...

I wanted to share something with you today that my son posted on his family site and it really touched my heart...I hope it touches yours too. Have a blessed Monday!
"Matthew 18:3 says "And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'
"Growing up this verse or this concept was always related to a child's faith. Jump off the table and daddy will be there to catch you; get hurt and mommy will be there to comfort you. A child has absolute faith in their parents to be there for them and in turn we have been taught that this is the meaning of the verse.
After being a father for only one year I have come to a different understanding of this verse.
Have you ever watched your child through the day; watched how they interact with their parents. Mom and Dad literally ARE their life. One story for us particularly comes to mind to describe what I mean.
Liss and I were getting ready to eat dinner one night so as always we had our TV trays set up in the living room. Keira was playing around the couch and Liss was going into the kitchen (probably to get the food...I don't remember why because this isn't the important part). Upon seeing Liss leave the room as she often does Keira started following her mommy out.
Problem: The TV tray next to the couch was directly between her and the path to get to mom. Solution: Who cares.
Keira proceeded to try and push her way through the hole between the tv tray and the couch. She of course started crying because she couldn't make it through, but being a typical father I decided to wait a moment and see what would happen. Would she backtrack, sit up and wait for help? Neither.
This little girl was so intent on getting to her mother that she didn't care what stood in the way. She wasn't making any headway. It was obvious she would never make it through, but this little girl didn't care. She kept pushing and pushing causing more pain to herself until daddy finally came to the rescue and freed her from her prison allowing her to continue her single-minded pursuit.
This is the understanding I've come to know from this verse. It's not "jump and I will catch you" it's "push, pull, scrunch, twist...do what you have to do to seek me with all your heart.
"Do this...be like a child. Have a single-minded pursuit of me like a child. Stop at nothing to find me like a child.
Matthew 18:3 says "And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'"
