It started with a burlap skirt...

...but we will get to that later. :)

While I was working in my potting shed today I also decided to play
a little with my small cast iron bird thingy, a withering geranium and my
trusty camera.

I have had this cast iron piece for years and sometimes it just blends in with
everything else and gets "lost"...not today. I brought it out of hiding and
snapped a few photos.

I love how the beauty of the rust blends nicely with the pink flowers for a pretty picture...
 don't you?

This is what started it all...

 I have had this burlap laying around and had not figured out what to do with it yet
 until an *AHH HA* moment hit the other day
and I decided to use it to skirt my potting bench. I really like the way it looks.
I do have other work to do in this shed {ahem...actually it needs a LOT of work!},
but if I get the little bit done that I want to in a few days I just might show you!!
{only the part that gets done! lol}

Scrabble...dressed up in their Sunday best

My previous post was going to be my White Wednesday

post...until I created these.

I call these

Scrabble in their Sunday best.

I must admit that I got the idea to paint them white

from the latest Country Living magazine, but I

wanted to make them even prettier so I also added

ribbon and roses.

When I saw the holders painted white it was one of those,

*why didn't I think of that* moments.

I left one of the ribbon tails long so it can be swooped

in front of it like they are on my table.

I have a few listed in my Etsy store and I can also take

custom requests.

Paint and hydrangeas

I am still amazed at how a little white paint can

totally transform an object.

It can take something from drab to fab

from atrocious to scrumptious

from downright ugly to amazingly beautiful!

I am thinking that I may want some type

of lettering or decal where the large

silver oval used to be (I just had to remove it...ugh),

but for now I left it plain.

Have brush...will paint!

Put a can of white paint and a paintbrush

near me and watch out. Everything in the

nearby vacinity will get painted! lol

I purchased this mirror intending to paint it white

and put it in my booth...

Well...the painted white part happened, but the booth part didn't. It is on my table where it will stay for now.

This is what it started out looking like...a Goodwill find for $3.00 and quite heavy I might add. Very nicely made.

Don't you agree that it looks so much better??

Would have loved to displayed real flowers, but haven't

had a chance to pick any up.

I also purchased this huge mirror at the Goodwill.

It was a shiny gold (forgot to get before pix)

Love it white and now it IS in my booth.

{sorry the reflection in the mirror isn't prettier. should have checked that out first} I found these beautiful 5 x 7 notecards and added them to some frames. They are in my Etsy store with more styles to come.

Do you like white paint as much as I do? MY BF tells me that in several years she will be off shopping in Italy and I will be stripping all my items that I painted white! Too funny!

Oops White Wednesday

Kathleen at Faded Charm is hosting yet another

What do you think of my little makeover project?

The original photo of this sweet lady even has a white

rose in her hair so I had to add one of my

tattered roses as well.

It started out as this clock body and I transformed

it into what you see above.

The glass was missing when I found it , but

it did still have the old metal clock face so I kept

that to decorate with.

now comes the oops...

I was messing around with it to shabby it up before taking it up to my booth and guess what happened??

the knob on the top fell off!!

I had glued it on with E6000 glue and thought that would hold it , but apparantly not. Now I am trying to figure out what to use or just leave it off, but I do like it there. Any suggestions?

Bed Makeover ~

this is what it looks like today~

I want to get a large rose applique and attach it

to the headboard ~

I had this duvet on the bed for awhile, but

I took it off and just have the plain white

comforter for now ~

I have a small bedroom, but it works for me.

I no longer have the white chest in this room,

but a white wicker piece instead.

Notice the tv ?? I made a light pink

cover for it and it looks much better

than a big black thing among all my pretties.

I also put up different curtains since this picture

was taken...now they are just white gauze.

Also have a white ceiling fan

Can you tell I love white? lol ~

We purchased this bed at an antique store a few years ago

being told it was a full size. Took it home and got it all repainted within a few days. Hauled it into the bedroom only to find that it was not a full size, but a queen or king. {I guess a smart person would have checked that out before hand ...lol } So my darlin' hubby made new side rails to shorten it up and he also painted them for me. (I distressed them) I have loved it ever since ~ A shabby wooden letter holder with a fleur-de-lis. that we made for our children last year for Christmas. They loved them ~ Hubby can make most anything he sets his mind to. We came up with the design , he cut out the wood and put them together, I painted and distressed them. The kids have gotten many compliments on them. {photo taken in my son and daughter- in -laws kitchen } Have a wonderful day today! Blessings~

Vintage Bicycle Before and After...part 2 ~

I posted this bicycle right after I got it fixed up this summer,

but I have had several comments about it lately

so I thought I would share it again.

This is what it looks like today.

I love how the greenery and flowers have grown so much

over the summer...

...and the vinca grew down to the ground~

The above photo and the next two were taken just

after I attached the basket and planted the flowers

earlier in the summer~

I purchased the basket at a garage sale for either 50 cents or $1.00...can't remember for sure...lol ~ My freshly painted bicycle... thank you hubby!

I Have A Plan... ~

...now lets see if the plan comes to fruition. I purchased this old bicycle a few years ago with plans of taking parts of my pink childhood bicycle and remaking it as I remembered it when I was small. Fast forward to now and that has not happened. Pink bicycle parts are still in my potting shed. One of these days (or years) it *WILL* happen, but....for *NOW*...a slightly different plan~

I got hubby to attack this bike with white spray paint (photo was taken in the process)...

I told you...I have a plan...

saw it in someone elses yard a few years ago. More to come soon IF this turns out like I hope it does! Stay tuned ~

On a different note did any of you watch the National Spelling Bee on TV last night?? Oh my goodness! 8th graders spelling words I have never even heard of ... antonomasia,bouquiniste,orifliamme,guayabera,isagoge,

sophrosyne,maecenas... enough to make a person quake in their shoes...at least I would be if someone threw those words at me and I consider myself a good speller! The winning word was Laodicean...now that word I COULD have spelled because it is in the Bible! Go figure! There are some smart kids out there. Have a wonderful Friday~ Blessings~
