My garden

The weather is beautiful today in Michigan so I ventured outside to do some weeding in my
little garden. I found this sign at an antique mall when we visited our daughter this past
weekend. While I was carrying it around a lady told me two different times that she
really liked it. :)

I asked for a new fence for "Mothers day" from my hubby. This one is getting rotten
and falling apart. It has been here for several years and it is time to go.
Time will tell if he actually has time to make one anytime soon. :)

A favorite birdhouse and cement face.
{Don't look too close as I noticed the garage needs washed and parts of it also
need painted}

I love this piece in my garden, but I kinda had a *dumb* moment and left it out all winter.
Guess what happened? Yep, part of it broke off. You can't see it since the flowers
cover it up, but I was bummed.

My chives are about ready to bloom. I really need to put them in pots to contain them
a little better.  I love to use them in salads, potatoes, egg salad sandwiches etc.

Our deck also needs replaced. The plan was to do it last year, but we have so many projects in the
works at any given time that it just got pushed to the back burner once again. Hopefully we can
actually accomplish that this summer. I am very slowly getting my goodies out of the potting
shed and adding them to the deck. I don't want to fill it up and then have to take it all back off
when we replace the deck so I am going very slowwwww. :)

I adore Rosemary plants and usually purchase two or three a year.

I never tire of my sweet woodruff especially when it is blooming. I just love the white flowers. This
started with just a few plants several years ago and it has filled in very nicely. I highly recommend it
for a great ground cover.

My fairy house fell over a few weeks ago in very heavy winds that came through our area and it
now needs some help. Several of the window panes fell out, but they are all intact so we just
need to put them back in. Part of the decoration on the front broke and it needs repainted white
again.  I see we need to do some weed spraying too...the fun just never ends when spring
rolls around. :)

Hoping you are having a wonderful day today whatever the weather is where you
are at. I think it is even supposed to be warmer  here tomorrow...:)

How will you change the world this year?

{I did not write this , but it is wonderful. By Holley Gerth}

"I’m thinking of you wherever you are…

carpool lines, cubicles, around the corner or across the world.

And I can hear that quiet question, the one that taps the heart of every woman:

“How am I going to change the world?”

I want to lean in close, cup your beautiful face in my hands and say this to you…

You are going to change the world this year the same way you did the one before –

by being YOU.

Glorious, messy, Jesus-filled, you.

The one who makes mistakes and keeps on trying.

The one who is learning about her gifts and grace and how it all goes together.

The one loving, laughing, learning about being a little bit more like Him every day.

Yep, you...

I bid adieu to summer

I don't know how the weather is where you live, but here in Michigan it has been rather cool cold!
I am the first one to admit that I love cool weather, but it just seemd to hit us out of nowhere. One day it was 106 heat index and the next day it had dropped 30 degrees or so. It has also been rainy and dreary for the past few days and I have gotten much of nothing accomplished.  I think my house needs skylights or something because when it is dark outside it is also dark inside unless I turn on lights. It also doesn't help that I am now hopelessly addicted to Pinterest! I can spend hours on the computer and before I know it the whole morning is gone. Does that ever happen to you? oh my...just what I needed...something else to get addicted to. lol.

I purchased these two lavender plants at the Summer Herb Faire and still have not had a chance to get them planted. Is it too late? I haven't a clue when the cutoff date is to plant things, but I hope they will still be okay once I have the opportunity to get them in the ground.

Still loving my chippy white pots that I picked up on the 127 corridor garage sales this summer.

Also still loving my Belgium seed pots...LOVE!

I have been looking for a birdhouse for a long time to replace one that I have on a post outside that is falling apart. I found this one at the Summer Herb Faire too. I am waffling back and forth over whether to paint the roof white. What do you all think? I think it would look neat, but do I need the contrast? One of these days I will figure it out and get it put where it goes.

Love all the little details.

I took these photos in the middle of the summer and never got them posted so thought "Oh why not...my last fond farewell" to summer for another year.

Hubby and I made this beauty. Easy peasy...so neat looking for a cottage garden too.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day. I need to get off the computer and get something done. I was also wandering around on facebook today and found a little video of my tiny granddaughter playing with toilet paper so if you want to see something cute, cute, cute check this out. I think you can click here to view it, but let me know if it doesn't work and I will try to figure it out...in my spare time. lol.
Blessings~

Vintage Planters ~

Our back porch is my laundry room/mudroom and I also have it filled with vintage planters/pottery and other goodies as well. This picture shows a few of my old planters that I just adore ~ Don't you just love this vintage rabbit planter... I purchased him for 50 cents at a garage sale a few years ago ~
I received this birdhouse one year from my dear friend and I love it. She makes the most wonderful items out of old posts/architecture ~
My oldest son Jason made this cupboard for me one year for either my birthday or Mothers Day and I treasure it. I think I may repaint it this year in a white/cream color and then distress it for a updated look. Loving all my vintage treasures today and I think spring is just around the corner ...Blessings ~

Winter in Michigan ~

Yep...definitely winter in Michigan. We have seen a lot of snow and subzero temperatures already and winter has barely started! Yikes! I just want to be somewhere warm. My feathered friends house has a snowy roof, the potting shed is so ready for spring, the bushes underneath my picture window are laden down with the white stuff and my back door...well let's just say that one day I couldn't even get it open because there was so much snow and ice. I had to go out the front door and shovel snow away and get the ice off so we could open the back door. Usually I don't mind winter so much, but if this is a sign of things to come in the years ahead I can hear the sunny south calling. Although I would never move...I can hear it......enjoy and have a wonderful day! Blessings! Sandi

My Jenny Craig Christmas Tree

Last year we decided it was time for a new Christmas tree. We have had one for several years that you put every single branch in a slot and then you have to put the lights on , fluff out every single branch etc. That was getting to be too much work for me so we went tree hunting. ( I have fibromyalgia and it really affects my shoulders) We looked at big trees, small trees, fat trees , skinny trees, tall trees , short trees and we always came back to this one. It is a tall and narrow tree, but just perfect for our house. It also came prelit so that is definitely a PLUS!

My youngest son was not impressed with our skinny tree so this year I named it our Jenny Craig tree. LOL Although, I think he is warming up to the idea that every Christmas tree doesn't have to be a nice full tree. Him and his wife and daughter were over this past weekend and he commented on how nice it looks! :)

I find the same to be true in life. We are all different sizes and shapes and personalities and how boring this life would be if we were all alike! God made each and every one of us as unique individuals. made in His image and we should celebrate that fact! We are all Gods creation and He makes no mistakes! Blessings to you and yours today!
