Tinkering

It has been a long time since I have been able to "tinker" {as Elyse calls it}

I like that word.

I had some extra time on my hands today so I hauled out my supplies and got started.
Easter is coming up pretty fast and I wanted to make some white crosses.

 I have always been enamored with pretty papers, and all the little tid bits that most people
just throw away. Not me.  I keep them ALL to make

something...anything.
...and once in awhile inspiration actually hits. ha!

{a little hoarding tendencies maybe? No, not me??}

This craft is so easy that even the kiddos can do it so get your little ones
at the table , gather up your supplies and let's begin!

I used some almost transparent white paper from my stash along with cheesecloth,
rubber stamps and flowers.

{I won these pretty flowers in a giveaway from Elyse several months ago}

I had several stamps to choose from and the one I chose says:

 "he has risen"

I started folding the paper at one end and folded it over several times.

Then I cut off the excess and glued it down.

I also tore off the ends instead of cutting them off to make it more rustic looking.

Next , pick your rubber stamp of choice and stamp it right onto the cross.

I adore cheesecloth and use it for so many things. I took a piece of it and wound it
around the cross. You can wind it any way you choose. No right or wrong ways here.

I glued the cheesecloth down in a few places and then added some flowers.

{Now that I look at the three I finished, I should have used assorted stamps, but oh well}

Wouldn't these be cute to lay on each plate for Easter dinner?

As I said...SIMPLE and EASY PEASY...anyone can make these.

I am almost embarrassed to even put the instructions on here.

You could even add some thin silver string at the top to hang them up if you so desired.

Do you think you will make some? Please let me know if you do!

Are you ready for Easter??

Our Independence Day!

I rarely do color in my house, but it just seemed appropriate for the upcoming
holiday. This is a vignette that I put together for our back porch entrance
into the house. I had another one made before this one with buttons strewn
about etc. but it looked too "busy" to me so I started over and am pleased
 how this turned out.

{just noticed the banner is a little wonky off to the left. It was "hung up"
on the string , but it is okay now. YOU just can't tell it! HA!}

{ I printed out my free USA banner here }

I added this vintage American Singer book that I picked up at a thrift store a year or two ago.

Don't you just love this print? I found it online also.

{ I printed it here }

Loving my white fabric with white stars...you know ME and white!

One nation UNDER GOD indivisible with liberty and justice for all!

{ I set the time to 4 o'clock in honor of the "4th" }

I have also had these vintage red, white and blue buttons for quite some time.
Very appropriate here don't you agree?

It would be nice if this candle had a "4" on it, but it didn't. And so it goes...:)

I pray that you all have a wonderful time celebrating our Independence Day
this year. What a great moment in history!

I love AMERICA and I am
 PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!

Table SCORE at Worlds longest garage sale!

I wanted to show you my SCORE from the worlds longest garage sale from last weekend. I made it through maybe 20 miles of sales and I was TIRED! I didn't even stop at every sale. In fact, I skipped a lot of them.  I don't see how people do it from Michigan to Alabama. They would have to prop me up and drag me along to most of them if I was to make it. ha!

Isn't this table a *DREAM*?? I was thrilled to find it. I was looking it over {the seller was using it as her stand for money etc} and I didn't see a price. I was just getting ready to ask her and she said, "That table is for sale also. It wasn't, but we just bought a motor home so now it is". I figured it would be way out of my price range, but asked anyways.  Seriously...$20??? I snatched it right away before someone else came along and scooped it up.

I did a photo shoot with "miss table" yesterday and included my cement candleholders that I adore.

Just look at this fabulous, chippy patina!!! :)
{this is for you pookie! lol}

Our 14 year old granddaughter was along with me and you should have seen us trying to get this in my ford Taurus!! It was a hoot, but I was determined! First, we tried to get it in the back seat. Tipped the legs up and it went in just fine until we got to the other set of legs. No matter which way we jostled it about, it would not fit. My granddaughters suggestion? Cut the legs off!!!!!!!! I about had a heart attack! lol

Next, we tried the trunk...moved it this way and that way and finally flipped it upside down and got the top in with some ALL of the legs sticking out. Next, was to try and figure out how to tie the trunk down. We could only get it down maybe three inches or so, but I had a PLAN!  I asked the lady who I purchased it from if she had anything I could use and she gave me an APRON. I reassured her that I would bring it back and she said I didn't have to...but I did. So, I tied it down and away we went towards home. I took a few side roads, but we made it just fine, unloaded the gal and took off again.

This piece on the front of the table is a drawer!! It was stuffed full of things that the seller had to remove. :)

I do love her so...still trying to figure out exactly where to put her, but I think I have decided.

Sure wish you all could have come along with me! It was a fun day even though I didn't find much of anything else.
The lady who sold me the table had the best stuff ever!! Chippy doors and mirrors...a set of four chairs to die for...I drooled all the way through her tent. :) Good thing I wasn't driving hubby's truck or I fear the budget would have been blown big time!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It is already sold...yay! :)

I just love the pretty colors.  What a great garland for spring!

Here is another one in neutral colors

I will continue to make these as time allows and I hope to get some listed in my Etsy store soon.

Tablecloths and roses

My vintage tablecloths and roses
from my rose bushes...

...were calling me to take them outside for a bit
yesterday and hang them on the line...

...just so I could snap a few photos
and share them with you.

Vintage roses and tablecloths...
somehow they just go together.

seems fitting for them to be in the same place at the same time...

shades of pink and blue...

smells of sweet rose perfume wafting in the air.

dancing once in awhile as the wind gently blows...

and standing like tin soldiers when it is still.

Blessings~
