Shipshewana Part 2 and another storm brewing!

Oh my...we are in for yet another storm tonight.
6-10 inches of snow again.
There are over 7,500 people in our county
still without power from the ice storm that
hit on Sunday evening.{including my brother's
family} Please old man winter...go away!!

Continuing on with our adventures in Shipshewana,
Indiana on Tuesday , this post is mostly inside the antique
mall called Trading Place.

I fell in love with this adorable pink airplane. price: over $1,100.
It is a vintage barber chair for kids to set in! Who knew!
I have never seen one of these cuties before. I am
betting that they didn't have to beg kids to get their
hair cut at whatever barber shop this was in.

buttons, laces , everything a gal could possibly want.

beautiful linens

goodies galore

love the wire baskets

pick a hat, any hat will do.

need some old kitchen utensils?

neat display of old bottles and boxes

loving this little laundry cart on wheels

wouldn't this horn be a neat display piece in the
right place

amazing huge cupola
taller than I am and such great chippiness.
I kept backing up to take the picture and ran right
into the wall. lol.

wonderful old doorknobs

on the way down we saw several of these beautiful
lights at a gas station that is now closed.
In fact you can see that this one is leaning
against the electrical wire.
I would love just one of them. :)

this is an interesting piece @ $65.
If it was mine the flowers would have had to go.

I think I need this sign and then I can change Buckeye Road
to Madison road. Suppose anyone would notice?

I purchased three of these white spindles for a
future project. why didn't I purchase the fourth
one you ask (and so did the clerk) ? I haven't a clue.
I told hubby I would leave it for someone else.

This place had two or three different gorgeous white
victorian stands and I loved them all, however at over
$300 each they did not come home with me. lol.

Beautiful old tin ceiling tiles in a chippy trunk.

Lots of pictures in this post, but I wanted you to get
a glimpse of the antique store.
I also picked up a bunch of old keys and some neat tags
that I will share later.

I really didn't purchase much, but I sure had fun taking
photos. I think I enjoyed that more than anything.
Especially all the horses and buggies.

Hubby went back to work yesterday. They had initially
called it off for yet another day, but they called back
Tuesday night after 9 pm and said the power is back on
and that he should come to work. They are way behind and
Saturday is mandatory. Oh the repercussions from these
amazing ice storms. :) Isn't it interesting that
the same storm that cancels work for many brings tons
of work for others? Happy Thursday!

White Wednesday Baskets ~

I have several old *white* baskets and I thought I would
share a couple of them today.
{I also took advantage of the beautiful sunshine}

these *white* tulips came from my son's wedding in 2003
love this *chippy white* funeral basket.
It has a large rounded handle and I purchased
it when an antique store was going out of
business for around $5.00 or less.
I am not a fan of very many fake flowers,
but I do love these and I had to sneak in some
green for St. Patty's day ~
I found this *creamy white* basket at the fair foundation
garage sale that I attended a few weeks ago.
don't you just love the pink ribbon... and the wonderful old millinery.
it is quite large and I only paid $3.00 for it.
*score*

Have a beautiful day and be sure and visit
Kathleen at Faded Charm for more WW posts.

Marie Antionette, Finds and FUN ~

Have you ever anticipated a day that you just know
is going to be filled with laughter and fun?
Your heart longs for that day and when it arrives
you are just as excited as a kid at Christmas.
Lucky me...
I had that kind of day yesterday~
My dearest friend Peggy and I had a wonderful day out
and I enjoyed it so much. We used to get together
quite often, but now not so much so it was
wonderful to be in her company
and just talk, laugh and enjoy the day!
We went to Shipshewana, Indiana to the big world wide renowned
flea market and auction. If you have never been
to this auction it is something to behold!
It starts promptly at 9 am
when they ring a loud bell and
THEN
Oh my...the fun begins.
There are several auctioneers that start right off
all at once. You can roam around and pick one group
for awhile and then go on to the next.
It is utter chaos , but oh so fun!!
We were at the auction for about four hours and this Marie box
is the item I purchased! I could not believe that
I actually got it for the price I did.
I thought it might go sky high.
Not very long afterwards
someone came up to me and wanted
to know what I paid for it. I told her
and she asked me if I would sell it.
It is good she wasn't around when I was bidding. lol
It has a glass top with the Marie photo underneath and when I opened the lid...~
I found these old letters. I can't wait to check them out ~
From the auction we went into the flea market to a few places
and I puchased this basket from Sweet Annies ~
Loved the uniqueness of it...it appears
flat on the back in this photo, but it isn't.
It has a neat shape~
Back to the auction barn...after the man was all done
selling his items where I purchased my Marie box
there were a few items left that no one had bid on.
These teacups and saucers were in the pile.
I picked them up and were
looking them over and the kind gentleman
shoved them towards me and said,
"Just take them...please...take them! "
I thanked him profusely and scooped them up.
As if I didn't already have enough fun...next we went to
some of the shops uptown.
We were like giddy schoolgirls when we both decided to purchase
matching shirts. Well kinda matching. I bought this
Paris shirt
and my friend purchased a Italy shirt.
We also bought matching
neckscarves for the winter that are so beautiful!! {I will share them at a later time}
This beautiful vintage light also came home with me
...purchased it for a song too.
It needs a little cleaning and I need to have
hubby to actually get it working
and hang it up. I may turn it into a candleholder...
still trying to decide.

Thank you my dear friend PEGGY for a wonderful
fun filled day that I will always cherish!
Blessings~

Day Trip to Tecumseh, Michigan ~

Popluation: 8,574
Median Age: 36.4
Hubby and I went to Tecumseh, Michigan today
to attend a flea market and
also a few stores in a neighboring town~

If I HAD
to live in a town... I would want it to be like this one~

Gorgeous street lights and
hanging baskets were
everywhere ~
Even the guardrails over the rivers had planters full of gorgeous flowers ~ Huge plants on the corners of each street along with other flowers~
Cheeses and wines in a charming European atmosphere ~
Little bistro tables and chairs outside of small shops ~
The Daily Grind
looked very interesting,
but unfortunately they were closed~
A house downtown that definitely caught my attention...
A very beautiful and
picturesque
{charming or quaint in appearance}
town for
a person to settle down in.

I will share some goodies that I found this weekend
as the week ahead progresses~ Blessings~
