Meet EVA ~

Isn't she so sweet! I went to her antique store again Saturday and spent a couple hours
digging around and seeing what treasures I could find.
I asked her if I could take her picture and without hesitation she said,
"Why SURE"
and then she graciously thanked me when I was done
{she usually wears purple , but today she surprised me with red} ~
This is what you will see as you drive up to the store
She is closing in November ~ When you enter the doors she will tell you that almost everything is 75% off, but there are some things that are marked firm and they are now 1/2 off~ This was my first photo as I entered the store~
As you can see she still has gobs of goodies just waiting for
the right person to come along and purchase~
Dishes galore~
Love these statues. If I remember right I think the smaller one was
marked $200 so now it would be $50. I have no idea if that
is good or bad ~
All magazines are $1.00 each ~
All kinds of boxes and tins ~
Piles of these signs
RASPBERRIES FOR SALE...
10 cents each now~
Remember me telling you in previous posts that the downstairs
is just full of books and ephemera? This is the shot as I walked down the stairs and this is only
ONE AISLE...
There are several...
including
another separate room~
All the books downstairs are 90% off unless they are marked
$10.00 and under and those are now $1.00 each.
Maybe from these photos you can see why I continue to go back
periodically and come home with a few inexpensive treasures.
I wish I could take you all with me.
Eva told me that she hopes a rich man comes along
and buys the place and then hires someone to run it.
Too sweet...
I will miss her ~

Hydrangeas ~

Thursday I went outside to snap some photos of my beautiful
fall hydrangeas
If someone had been driving by
they would have wondered
what in the world is that woman doing
contorting her body like that. {lol}
I was bent all different directions to get different shots ,
standing up,
squatting down,
leaning over...
but isn't that half the fun of photography...I think so ~
strawberries and cream~ {I made up the name because of the color}
lime sherbet~
{another made up name}
Hydrangeas are my favorite fall flower and
I adore them ~ This is a peegee hydrangea bush. The flowers start out a
creamy/light green color and then turn from light green to pink.
When I cut them and bring them in the house
I just stick them in a vase and they dry exactly how they are. I don't put any water in the vase. But I will say from my experience over the years, you have to
pick them at just the right time when the petals almost have a
leathery feel to them or they will wilt when you bring them in.
In the house they will eventually turn a light tan as they dry.

Enjoy my lucious fall hydrangeas

White Wednesday Tour- ~

Come along and tour my place with me...
A watering can full of white phlox will greet you at the back door~ Along with this beautiful white light fixture~ Step into our back porch where this basket hangs on the door that opens into the kitchen ~ Please open the door and come right in. I have been waiting for you... Looking across the room you will see this shutter hanging above the window adorned with a Simply Shabby Chic clock~
Gaze around and you will find this cast iron piece
hanging on the wall above the refrigerator ~
Look to the left side of the window and you will see
where this basket resides along with many others~
Now step into the dining room and from there we will find
this jar of glass glitter sittting on a shelf in my studio
just waiting to be used again~
Oops...this didn't turn out right...
this photo was taken in the bathroom off the kitchen.
Oh well...you get the idea. {hee hee}
Sometimes the best laid plans go awry.

Enjoy your beautiful White Wednesday today.
Stop over at Faded Charm to see more.

I added a couple more bottles to the shop yesterday. To view them just click on the photo on my sidebar. I have also been playing around with different blog banners lately. What do you think of this one? I would love to hear your comments~

Peonies ~

"As for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord".
Joshua 24:25b

Christ is the head of this house
The unseen guest in every room.

These words are at the bottom of this beautiful photograph of peonies.
There is a story that goes along with this picture that hangs in my house. Seven years ago someone gave us $100 for our 25th wedding anniversary and we decided that we wanted to buy something special to remember the day.
We went shopping in the city and and I fell in love with this large picture that we found at a Christian bookstore so we purchased it.
Originally it had a silver frame ...very appropriate because it was for our

SILVER Anniversary~

I don't think we had it more than two weeks and I noticed that the mat was warping very bad inside the frame underneath the glass. So we returned it and another one was ordered to replace it. It took a good month or two to get a replacement in and when we picked it up I glanced at it {inside the wrapping and box} and it looked fine so we came home with it.

{mind you this bookstore is more than an hour away from home}

When we got home and unwrapped it all I was horrified to find that the frame was DARK GOLD and did not go well at all with the picture.
I was so bummed. Tried to get it fixed again, but they couldn't guarantee me the silver frame so I kept it as it was , but was never really happy with it. Within the last year or I thought ah ha...I shall paint the frame ivory to match the ivory in the picture. Love it so much better this way.
I know it isn't silver and looking at it now I think "silver"?? But you really had to see it. It did go perfect with it , but I am very happy now.

Rainbows, Bed Races & Busy Bees ~

A local town that my son lives in was having their
175th anniversary celebration this weekend
and the town had all kinds of fun things planned.
Last night we went to the
BED RACE
{Only in a small town right?}
They had part of the street blocked off for this event.
It was fun to watch because we have never seen this done.
One group was pulling their bed so fast that they lost control
of it and wiped out the 8 foot table
in the middle of the street that had the supplies on.
While we were there it started raining and I was able
to get a picture of this beautiful double rainbow.
I wish I had gotten a better picture because not too long after I took this one
it was much brighter looking, but I was all out of memory card. :(
Grandma's busy bees. These little gals had such a fun time together. They don't see each other very often and it was fun to watch them play. Of course everything was "MINE", but they did so good sharing! I don't think they have slowed down at all. They just steam around here like little busy bees all the time. Annika always loves my candles so she showed them to Keira too. Keira loves to make her "CHEESE" face like she did in this photo. We are going to make grilled pizza at my sons place in a little while so I need to get all the fixin's around. Have a wonderful evening~ Blessings~

More Vintage Paper ~

More antique prints that I purchased last week from the antique store that is going out of business. I just couldn't pass them up~
Paid a whopping 50 cents each for these.

My oldest son , his wife and our 1 year old GD are home this weekend. We haven't seen them for quite some time so I will not be spending much time on the computer. I hope to have more GD pictures to show you next week.

Have a wonderful weekend! Blessings~
