Come along with me to *The Bathing Boutique*

...a little slice of heaven inside Flint Farmers Market.

When we were visiting our daughter last weekend we went

to the Farmers Market again and I fell in love with this

amazing *bathing boutique*. I sure wish this was

closer to where I live because I would be a regular

customer!

I absolutely love this idea for display.

I thought her whole booth was done just perfect and oh so pretty! Makes me want to to take a bath right now!

I purchased a couple of these gorgeous lavender

sachets. I would have spent more, but we had

just come from Peacock Park where I had spent

my wad for the day! lol.

They are sooooo pretty. I would like to make

something similar, but first I have to drag out

the sewing machine.

After my first time around I came back for a second

look and talked to the owner more. I feel so bad that

I don't remember her name, but it kinda rhymed with

Sandi...Cindy? Mindy? Oh dear. I really enjoyed talking

to her. Definitely a kindred spirit!

Bath salts in beautiful display containers as well.

I just wanted to pull up a chair and sit here all day long!

Can I just say that I love to support people who make

lovely handmade items because I know the work involved

and then you hope that someone will love your things

as much as you do. Well I do love her items and can't

wait to go back!

I took advantage of the sunlight streaming

in my bedroom window today and hauled out my

camera. I never know when to stop adding photos

so you are getting several today! :)

I love this tag that Ozma of Odds included along with

the Goodwill for 1.00. new with tags.

Was I ever surprised when I received it

at how small it is, but I still love it.

Mini Pantry Makeover

If you remember I live in a very old house built in 1890's

and one thing that is not abundant is closet areas.

In fact we have one closet in our bedroom and that is it !

Yes, I suppose we should have gutted the house ,

started over and added some, but...at the time of purchase

we were young in's with babies...several years of lay offs

took their toll and we really never got around to it.

Now I am too old to care! lol.

That being said...there is a deep area outside our bathroom

door that was a built in pantry when we moved here.

Several years ago we tore that out

{it really needed taken out!} and spruced it up.

A few years ago we added shelving to put pantry goodies

on and I hung a curtain, but it never really looked *pretty*

to me. Yesterday I changed that.

I whipped up some floor length curtain panels and added

some of my gauze roses to it and it looks much better

if I don't say so myself.

I also had two of these linen baskets just hanging

around upstairs so instead of just piling my jars on the

top shelf like before, I put them in these baskets.

Much prettier don't you think?

I have to tell you about the curtains. I purchased them at a garage sale this summer and was about jumping for joy! {it is the little things that make me happy}

I got four gauze panels that were approx. 180 inches long each if not longer for 50 cents each. I was trying to figure out what in the world they were because they were just hemmed on the top, bottom and sides with no pocket for a curtain rod and I finally realized they were swags.

I took one panel, ripped it in two pieces and since the one end and the sides were already hemmed all I had to do was make a curtain rod pocket on each panel. Easy peasy!! I do love the new look much better. I thought about adding a few ruffles at the top... what do you think?

I will say that I have been wandering antique malls lately with tape measure in hand to find a tall cabinet for this area, but haven't had any success yet. So I guess this will do for now until I find that special piece.

A Nice Day Away ~

I needed to get away today from all the hum drum of every day life and it was just what the doctor ordered. I didn't spend a lot of money, but I did come home with some delightful finds.

I went to a huge greenhouse, Hobby Lobby, Big Lots and was trying to decide whether to hit the Goodwill store or head home. Am I ever glad I decided to go! I found this wonderful picture and fell in love with it.

The Goodwill store that I went to has a large area where they put everything on shelves and they don't price anything. It is called, "AS IS". You take the items that you want up to the counter and they give you a price. This picture cost me a whopping 25 cents! Can you believe it? The glass in it is convex and I adore it! I am sure some will look at it and think that it is a piece of junk but I see wonderful character in the chippy paint, a beautiful vintage patina, and a romantic victorian couple. What do you see?

I did have a wonderful time all by myself . Sometimes we just need to get away for a bit to renew our spirit ...I know I did and I am all the better for it. Blessings~

I love pretty books and this one is no exception. I was drawn to it the moment I saw it a few months ago. It is a small book full of prayers, poems, and toasts celebrating home and family ~

In these turbulent economic times when things are so uncertain we need to remember the things that matter most...our family, our friends and our Heavenly Father who loves us so very much ~ Take some time to celebrate your family and home today. Blessings ~

Physical Beauty ~

I received this antique book for part of my birthday gift from my daughter and I love it! The title is *Physical Beauty* and it is a very old book that has a copyright date of 1891. I adore the pictures in it and especially the one above of the pretty lady. The chapters have very interesting titles such as: What is Physical Beauty, Causes Operative For and Against Higher Ideals, General Aids to Beauty-Ventilation, Foods , Sleep, Fabrics... The Hygiene of the Hair, The Care of the Hands , Practical Suggestions for Dress, etc.

I have not had time to read it all through, but it will most certainly be an interesting read. I realized the page above that I scanned appears crooked so I checked the book and it is crooked on the page...definitely a sign of how old the book is...still so wonderful...
