Tweaking

I have been doing some tweaking in the kitchen the past couple weeks.

I hauled this tiered shelf out of my potting shed
{where everything extra gets stored}
and hung it above my long shelf. I was ready to
take the long shelf down as it has been here for years,
but it it still here for now.

I added a  pretty pink carnation that I received for Mothers Day at my sons church last weekend.

How is your week going?

I am furiously trying go get set up for a garage sale tomorrow.
A ONE DAY sale.
I am exhausted already and I just got out of bed. ha!!
Blessings~

PS I have been getting questions about my kitchen wall.
You can click here to see my tutorial and make one yourself!!
Enjoy!!

Motherhood ...

Motherhood IS a glorious career...don't you think so?

I know there are always the naysayers out there who don't think of
motherhood as a career, but boy is it ever! I remember expecting our first child who turned out
to be our one and only daughter. We headed for the hospital in the wee hours on a Sunday
morning and a little before 9 am we called my parents and told them that they were grandparents.
Of course they were overjoyed and this was just the beginning. Two more little ones eventually
came along...two sons with red hair! We were shocked when the first one had red hair, so even
more so when we had a second one with fiery red hair.  We sure adored these little people that
God had blessed us with.

We loved each one of them the best way we knew how, even though we were NOT perfect parents.
We were beyond blessed to have very healthy children and we decided after three that our quiver
was full...no more pitter patter of little feet at the Boothman household. This mama was very content
with her little family, living out on a dirt road in the country.

Kindergarten, elementary, jr. high, prom, dances, girlfriends, boyfriends, heartache, joy, tears,
laughter, secrets, college , weddings...

The days turned into months, the months into years, the years into decades and here we
are grandparents now to EIGHT. Eight amazing little bodies all full of life and each one
with their own unique personality.  I often wonder where the time has gone!!
It flew by so fast that is seemed just like a blip on the radar screen.

I know you young parents hear it so much until your eyes roll, but it really is true...
Cherish the times you have with your little ones now because before you know it
they will be going off to college , then getting married and you will hear the
pitter patter of little feet once again, but it will be the feet of  your precious little grands.

Yes, we are BLESSED beyond measure and I loved every minute{almost...lol} then
and I love it now. I certainly don't have the stamina I once had and it is good to ship those precious
little grands back home after they visit so I can catch my breath...but life is good!

Good times or bad times... each moment made us into the family we are today and I love it that we
love each other.

Wishing each and every one of my blogging pals the best Mothers Day ever!
Blink your eyes and it will be Mothers Day 2014 and we will start all over again. :)

Flowers, flowers, flowers!

I am so so thankful that warm weather is FINALLY here in Michigan!! How about you?
Spring is one of my very favorite seasons. I love the new life and going to the garden center
and seeing what I can find to bring home with me each year.

We visited my daughter and her family last weekend and her and I attended a
Faire Festival. It was a beautiful time and a fun day. Our first time ever , but we
decided that next year I need to take my three little granddaughters along.
They would have loved it!! {more on that another day}

I purchased the above basket at the festival and I love it. Hope I can keep it alive.

My daughter gave me this beautiful plant for Mothers Day. I believe it is "Stock"
and I also hope I can keep this one alive. I just love the color, don't you?

Gorgeous close up of the flowers...just amazing!

I gave my mom this watering can planter for Mothers Day this year and she
loved it. I think it is gorgeous also.

I mowed our large lawn again today and afterwards took a couple photos
of what is growing in my yard right now.

I thought I would include a photo of my little sweetie granddaughter Annika and yours truly. Her
school had grandparents day this past Tuesday and she invited me. I loved every moment of it.
We got to sit in her class and listen to them read a story and sing some songs. Then I went to lunch
with her and took her to the book fair. I think they hit the nail on the head to have the book
fair on grandparents day. After all ,what grandparent is going to tell their grandchild that
they won't buy them anything??? ha!! Then it was on to recess. A fun, fun day and she didn't
want me to leave. After recess it was hugs and kisses and off she went back into the school.

What is growing at your place? I would love to know!! :)

Motherhood...my only gems...

"I look back on my childhood and thank the stars above.
For everything you gave me, but mostly for your love."

-Wayne F. Winters from Ode to Mom

There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one.

Motherhood...my only gems

She came tonight as I sat alone, the girl I used to be...
and she gazed at me with her earnest eye and questioned reproachfully;

Have you forgotten the many plans and hopes that I had for you?
The career, the splendid fame, and all the wonderful things to do?
Where is the  mansion of stately height with all it's gardens rare?
The silken robes that I dreamed for you and the jewels in your hair?

And as she spoke, I was very sad for I wanted her pleased with me...
This slender girl from the shadowy past , the girl that I used to be.
So gently rising, I took her hand, and guided her up the stair
Where peacefully sleeping, my babies lay innocent, sweet, and fair.

And I told her that these are my only gems, and precious they are to me;
That silken robe is my motherhood of costly simplicity.
And my mansion of stately height is love, and the only career I know
Is serving each day in these sheltered walls for the dear ones who come and go.

And as I spoke to  my shadowy guest , she smiled through her tears at me,
And I saw that the woman that I am now, pleased the girl I used to be.

L.O.V.E. the poem above and it really pulls at my heartstrings.

Is it my age???

I am so thankful that I had a very nice day today.

Youngest son , his wife and sweet granddaughter Annika
came over in the afternoon for a visit and brought me this cake,
a beautiful card and these gorgeous flowers. It was so nice
because I will be honest here...I had a meltdown last night.

I had watched Annika last evening for a few
hours while hubby, son and his wife went to watch
a movie. Little Miss Annika was not feeling the best
and basically she had a bad night.

Nothing I did could make her happy. She wanted her daddy...she wanted her mommy,

she did not want me.

By the time they arrived to pick her up,
she was inconsolable. I handed her to my son
and I started crying right along with her.

I know I have a lot of emotions when
Mother's day arrives every year, but I have never
had a meltdown like that before. Poor son then had
TWO females to console which he did very well...

Is it my age??

where did those tears come from?

maybe just the *mother* thing and all
that goes along with it??

blessings to each of you today~

Individuality ~

Oh my goodness...I don't know what I did but as soon as I got these pictures uploaded the page went away and it said "your post has published sucessfully"...before I even wrote anything! Thank God for edit programs! LOL

I am so tired right now from digging out and getting ready for a garage sale that I just wanted to take a break and share my childrens individuality.

I received the following cards for Mothers day and this first one is from my oldest son Jason(and family)...middle child and it fits him to a *T*. On the front it says, Mom , I know at times I'm difficult and stubborn...(and on the inside) ...Fortunately I am cute enough to make up for it". What a hoot and so true...this is my child who lives for a good debate! You better be up on what you are debating or forget about it. Sometimes I just don't bother. And we know he loves us , but he is just not one to go all ga ga and demonstrate it much. He is my "go to" guy when I need support and prayer... He is a steadfast rock when our family is in distress. Thank you Jason!
I received this next beautiful card from my youngest son Nathan (youngest child too) . He always picks out such thoughtful and caring cards and always gives hugs and kisses . He brought me a beautiful lavender/purple petunia hanging basket and spent the afternoon with us. Later when he went out to his truck he came back in with a handful of withered flowers and said, "oh mom I feel so bad"...he had stopped along a road somewhere and picked me some lilacs and other flowers and totally forgot he had them in his truck . I put them in water anyways and the smell is wonderful. Now Jason would never think of doing something like that , but it is what makes each one a true individual just as God made them and they are my wonderful boys~ I couldn't leave out my daughter and the card she sent along. On the inside it says, "...and the world should bloom in your honor". My only daughter...oldest child...child that gave us the most grief and heartache , but she got back on the right track with Gods help and is a loving Christian, mother and wife. She is so tenderhearted...she cries so easily and that is a wonderful thing. I remember a time when she was cold as ice. Looking into her eyes they were just blank. God works miracles and she is living proof. I could go on and on, but I just thank God every day for my children and how special they all are to me~ Okay...I think I am refreshed now so I can get on to digging out more things for the sale. I really am craving chocolate today too. I about tore the house apart looking for some and thankfully I did find a DOVE candy bar! LOL Enjoy your blessings today~

This and That ~

This post is very random and has no rhyme or reason, but I wanted to share a few things before I head out today. Someone purchased an item for a gift from my Etsy store recently and I wrapped it up for her...isn't that tag precious ~
My most favorite perfume right now...*BELOVED* ...I really don't wear much perfume, but fell in love with this when I smelled a sample of it.
It was a gift from my son for Christmas last year~ Must have gone to Olive Garden one too many times to accumulate these pretty sugar packets. But they are *PINK* and blue and fit right in my decor...lol ~ My favorite teacup at the moment...RS Prussia...$2 at an estate sale a few years ago ~
My new filing cabinet that hubby finally finished up for me...love it!
Have a wonderful Tuesday...Blessings~

A Gift for Someone Special ~

I put a lovely gift together for my Mom on Mothers Day last year and she just loved it.
I started with an antique sewing drawer and painted it a very light pink color and added a beautiful rose decal . Then I filled it with all kinds of goodies ~
I started with pink tissue paper and then added Bath and Body shower gel, Room spray in a rose scent from Home Goods that smelled just like old fashioned roses... 2 antique plates to go with the rest of her collection, a dvd (I think it was Anne of Green Gables, but I don't remember which one)...
I finished it off with a beautiful pink flower that she could plant...it was a hit and I enjoyed putting this all together for her~
I have an idea in the works for this year, but I am not quite
sure how it will all come together. I will have fun
trying though. Have a wonderful Monday ~
Blessings ~
