The Phone Call

Thursday evening
a little before 8 pm
I got
the call.

The one that no one
wants to get.

Someone you love
has a medical emergency.

It was Mr. Wayside Treasure's boss
on the phone.

Hubby had passed out.
Cold.
On the cement floor
beside his machine.

Upright one minute
Flat on the floor
the next.

Co-workers ran
to his aid.
Waited with him
until he came to.

Calling his name.
Over and over.

 EMS came.
Then off to the
hospital.

You know
that place
where they poke
you with needles,
ask you tons of questions
and try to figure out
what's wrong.

They poked
and
poked
and poked
some more.

No veins to be found.
They kept poking
over and over
and
over and over
and
over and over
again...

{not exaggerating}

One nurse
Two nurses
Three nurses
Four...

Fourth one
brought down
from
ICU

She got blood.
Finally.

Severely dehydrated.
Potassium very low.
{from losing so much fluid from
being sick}

Home?
Nope.
We want to admit him.
ugh!
double ugh!

Pumped him with
fluids
and potassium.

Forgot to tell him that
potassium
is very painful
as it drips in.

Extremely painful!

"Feels like someone
scooping out my arm
with an ice cream
scoop painful!"

I went after and
found a nurse.
She slowed it
down
so it was tolerable.
Almost.

My eyes were barely
staying open.
I headed home
for some rest.

Rest did not come.
Don't know why I tried.

A few hours later.
Back to hospital.
 Up to his room.

More poking
and prodding.

Veins did not cooperate.

So many nurses.

We laughed our
way through.
most of the time.

What else
can you
do?!

I told them,
"he would not make
a good
blood donor".

They agreed.

No blood
draw
the usual way.
Not working.

Put in a Pic line.
That will work!

Did not work.
They said they
 have never known
it not to work.

Teeniest amount of
blood
finally
in the tube
after four more
nurses
tried.

It clotted
immediately.

Couldn't use it.

Over and over...
quite an ordeal.
Then, it clotted in
the syringe.

huh? what?

We have never
seen this before.

Again, teeniest amount
of blood drawn.

Nurse:
I am literally
 running this
down to
the lab
before it clots!

Relief...
for a bit.

Minutes later
Two more nurses..

"we are going
to draw
your blood."

Seriously?
You are kidding!
Won't work.

It worked!
No problem!

"Where were you
hours ago?"

I brought him
HOME
about 5 pm
Friday.

He is so
thankful to be
back
HOME.

Sore tailbone
and
bit his lip
from his
close-up encounter
with the
floor.

Bruised
and
battered,
but
HOME!

Thank you God!

after a restful weekend}

Ups and downs of life...prayer needed

I rarely share the not so nice part of our lives on here ,
but I wanted to ask you to pray for my dear husband.
I can't go into the details,
but please pray for safety at work and for peace.
He so badly needs people to bombard heaven on
his behalf right now.
Also needing prayer for a family situation and
we lost a church member this week.
I will be helping with the funeral dinner today.
*Prayer has comforted us in sorrow and will help strengthen
us for the journey ahead*

Reminiscing...My Children ~

I have been reminiscing today and I wanted to share photos of my children with you because I know it is always nice to put a face to a name. This first picture is of my youngest son Nathan and his wife Colette. They were married in 2006 and they are the parents to my *PRECIOUS* granddaughter Annika who I get the pleasure of watching once a week while her mommy and daddy work. They really did have fairy tale wedding complete with a white horse drawn carriage driven by a man in a black tuxedo and top hat! Next, is my oldest son Jason and his wife Melissa. They were married in 2003 and are parents to our *BEAUTIFUL PETITE* granddaughter Keira who is almost 15 months old. Jason works at Huntington College and Melissa is a stay at home mommy for now. She also worked at the college, but quit when baby Keira was born.
Last, but certainly not least is my daughter Amanda and her husband Matt. They are parents to my first grandchild...*SWEET* Allysha and also *BUSY*Jonathan and *baby- to -be* in due in August. They got married in 2003 also ...yep that is right. Her and Jason's weddings were three weeks apart ! It was a very busy time summer to say the least. My husband went on a mission trip to Jamaica at the end of June and thank God he got home in time for the weddings.
I would like to ask you all to pray for my children and their families. Nathan and Colette both work at the same place and they are getting very slow due to the bad economy. They have been on four day weeks for awhile now , but today he didn't have work either so this week was a three day week for him. It really takes a toll on you after a while.

My heart goes out to my daughter and her family. Her husband Matt works as an engineer for GM (at 24 years old...he is *SMART*) and Mandi told me they will find out in May if he has a job anymore or not. They have a beautiful new house and only God knows what will happen. You always want better for your kids and you just feel heartbroken when things like this happen through no fault of their own. So if you think about it please say a prayer for them. I know there are many other people in the same situations, but when it is your own family it really hits home. We are comforted by the fact that we serve an *AWESOME GOD* and He will take care of each and every one no matter what happens. Blessings ~
