Spring Cloche ~

Cloche ~ pronounced (klōsh) 1. a bell shaped cover used to protect young plants (or to decorate with...LOL ) I knew I wanted to do something different with my large cloche so I tackled that project last night and this is what I came up with. I may do a little tweaking on the ribbon etc. , but I wanted to get this posted before we run off today. I used a real birds nest and dried hydrangeas off my bush. I have it sitting on an old vanity that is inside the door of my entry way. I do hope you enjoy my *LITTLE TOUCH OF SPRING*... Blessings ~

Happy Birthday To You ~

Happy Birthday to everyone out there in blog land who is celebrating a birthday today! I just had to share this adorable vintage birthday card from my stash. As I have stated before I just love vintage greeting cards, postcards and any other pretty vintage paper items and this one is just too cute! It is so adorable with it's little chubby birds sitting on a music note.

Initially I scanned this card so I could share it with you and the foil music note turned out real dark, so I opted to go this route. (If anyone out there wants me to post it scanned so you can copy it please let me know)

If you can imagine this card was included in a HUGE box (and I mean huge) of hundreds of vintage greeting cards that I purchased at an antique mall a few years ago for $12.00. I am thinking there were 300-500 cards in that box if not more. I was like a kid in a candy store as I took out each beautiful card and my head was filled with thoughts of who sent it, what were they like etc... I think that was a once in a lifetime find. I since have sold a lot of them on ebay , but I kept my favorite ones and this one is at the top of my list. Have a beautiful day! Blessings! Sandi

Holiday Open House

I received these open house invitations in the mail and attended both yesterday. I do wish I had taken my camera along as the one at East Mulberry Gift Cottage also had her home on tour. Gorgeous small quaint home and her decor is just amazing! She had tree branches in the house attached to the wall and twined with tiny white lights... it was gorgeous. I can't remember if they were on the sides of a window or a mirror. ( lol ) They also had a working fireplace and it was nice and warm and cozy. I have always loved large victorian style homes, but lately I am drawn to the smaller homes that remind me of a cozy cottage. Blessings today to all of you!

Antique Bird Books & Ephemera

I went antiquing on Thursday and wanted to share a few of my finds. I consider them all wonderful treasures and I absolutely love each and every piece. The bird books are amazing with wonderful old pictures and the ephemera is just as grand. The wildflower book is lovely and can you believe that it was originally 1 penny? It has several pages with the colored plates of different flowers. I left the antique store with all these things plus 5 or 6 vintage photo cabinet cards that didn't make it in the pictures...(maybe next time)... all for $15! I was thrilled to say the least!

Baby Birds

I wanted to share a few pictures that I took this past summer. I had a fern hanging on my front porch and when I took it down one day to water it I was shocked to find this bird nest. Each time I took it back down to water it there was another surprise. More eggs, growing birdies, open beaks... There did end up being three eggs as you can see. These birds grew so fast and filled up the nest and were out on their own in a very short time. The wonders of God's creation... Enjoy!
