You gotta have faith!

Spring IS coming...
Yes, it is! I can almost smell it, can't you?

I am so ready to throw open the windows, breathe deep of the fresh
country air and run barefoot in the sand.
huh??...WAIT...
no sand around here!!
My mind must have wandered for awhile.
It tends to do that quite often these days.

But, I am so ready for warmer days that is for sure.
We had a couple days in the 70's last week and then got hit
with SNOW again.
The weather this year has just been so crazy!

"Faith is a knowledge within the heart,
beyond the reach of proof".

- Khalil Gibran

I took these pics a few weeks ago and forgot all about them until I found them on my
computer again.  I picked up the chevron "B" at Hobby Lobby for a mere $7.50.

It was on clearance and I love it inside this frame.
I initially intended to hang it alone , but it looked rather forlorn all by itself.

I also had this  family sign printed several weeks ago. I hung it in an old frame
that I picked up at a garage sale several years ago and it is just perfect.

It was designed by Alice from Thoughts from Alice
blog. I love it. Thank you Alice!!

I am still loving the paint treatment that I did on our fake brick wall. Makes me want
to fake brick my whole house. lol

This has become a favorite corner in my house right now.

I have not done much creating lately, but I did manage to sit down last week and make a couple bird nest
pieces. I created them inside of old zinc lids.

There's that word again...FAITH.

Faith...working on that as I type this.

There are a few issues going on in our family right now that I wish you would say a prayer for.
I won't get into it on here, but I know God is able and I am trying to have FAITH that in HIS
time it will all work out.

Keeping busy while I wait...

I have been trying to stay busy since my car has been down and I really haven't had the
urge to go anywhere! That is a good thing since we are now on WEEK 3! Don't get me
wrong, I do get out in the evenings once in awhile when hubby gets home from work,
but I can't just hop in my car and go during the day because it is not here. lol

I have been creating with old book covers and embellishing some cabinet cards.
Above is a work in progress...not done, but trying to decide where I want to
put the trim and buttons.

This is one of the cabinet cards that I embellished and it is already sold. :)

This one is an old book cover. I love the tiny green design on the background.
This one is sold as well. :)

Meet SADIE! Isn't she adorable?? I have an old,old songbook that has the names of
women for some of the titles. It is the strangest thing. It is a church songbook and the
name has absolutely nothing to do with the song. I haven't a clue how that came
about, but it is nice to find some neat names to use in my creations.

...and this is Elizabeth. I thought the names that I choose fit each person. :)

Have you ever painted a book?? I hadn't until I painted this one. It was an ugly yellow
color. I thought it couldn't possibly look any worse with a coat of white paint so
paint it I did! I really like it now. I added some seam binding ribbon, vintage lace and a
clip on earring. It will go in my Etsy store soon.

These are wooden buckets that I decoupaged on. Not the greatest photo, but you get the idea.

Well...there went my blog signature again. I get so aggravated when I accidentally push a key on the
keyboard and WHOOSH...it blows it away *sigh*}

Trying to keep busy...

GOOD NEWS...we pick up the car AGAIN tomorrow. Did you read my post where we had to have
the tranny rebuilt in Pennsylvania...our car stranded us? Well, on the way home it had a horrible
clunking noise that just kept getting worse so we had to take it to another shop 1.5 hours away.
Hubby kept telling me he just thought something didn't get tightened from when they did the
transmisson and he was right!! They found a lose bolt. Strange how much noise a lose bolt
can make, but my son informed me that it wasn't the bolt making the noise. It was whatever the
bolt was supposed to be holding in place that was moving around and making the noise.
Brilliant kid there!! I wonder where he got that?? lol

Happy Thursday blog friends!!

Cinderella's carriage ~

Look what I found tucked away and haven't had on the
tree for years. An adorable little Cinderella carriage
ornament.

A tiny sweet carriage that is definitely fit for a princess.

She spins and she sways To whatever song plays Without a care in the world And I'm sitting here wearing The weight of the world on my shoulders It's been a long day And there's still work to do She's pulling at me Saying "Dad, I need you There's a ball at the castle And I've been invited And I need to practice my dancing Oh, please, Daddy, please?" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms' Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song' Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone... She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed She wants to know if I approve of the dress She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away And I need to practice my dancing. Oh, please, Daddy, please?" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms' Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone. She will be gone. Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand Just glowing and telling us all they had planned She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away But I need to practice my dancing Oh, please, Daddy, please?" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song' Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone.

Paint and hydrangeas

I am still amazed at how a little white paint can
totally transform an object.

It can take something from drab to fab

from atrocious to scrumptious

from downright ugly to amazingly beautiful!

This is before the white makeover.
{Goodwill find again...$5.00}
It looks so much better now!
Don't you agree?
I am thinking that I may want some type
of lettering or decal where the large
silver oval used to be (I just had to remove it...ugh),
but for now I left it plain.

Rest ~

"Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden
and I will give you rest. "
Matthew 11:28

my little sweetie was here a couple days ago
and i found her on top of my freshly made bed.
she had piled all the pillows on top of each other.
then she crawled under the covers.

i think she needed a little rest

just like us.

so...we are taking a few days off to rest
and relax. i may not be posting for a few days
but I will still be checking in.

Peonies ~

"As for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord".
Joshua 24:25b

Christ is the head of this house
The unseen guest in every room.

These words are at the bottom of this beautiful photograph of peonies.
There is a story that goes along with this picture that hangs in my house. Seven years ago someone gave us $100 for our 25th wedding anniversary and we decided that we wanted to buy something special to remember the day.
We went shopping in the city and and I fell in love with this large picture that we found at a Christian bookstore so we purchased it.
Originally it had a silver frame ...very appropriate because it was for our

SILVER Anniversary~

I don't think we had it more than two weeks and I noticed that the mat was warping very bad inside the frame underneath the glass. So we returned it and another one was ordered to replace it. It took a good month or two to get a replacement in and when we picked it up I glanced at it {inside the wrapping and box} and it looked fine so we came home with it.

{mind you this bookstore is more than an hour away from home}

When we got home and unwrapped it all I was horrified to find that the frame was DARK GOLD and did not go well at all with the picture.
I was so bummed. Tried to get it fixed again, but they couldn't guarantee me the silver frame so I kept it as it was , but was never really happy with it. Within the last year or I thought ah ha...I shall paint the frame ivory to match the ivory in the picture. Love it so much better this way.
I know it isn't silver and looking at it now I think "silver"?? But you really had to see it. It did go perfect with it , but I am very happy now.

We Are of Great Value ~

"Look at the birds in the sky.
They don't plant or harvest or gather food into barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
You are more
valuable
than they are, aren't you? " Matthew 6:26
You
are valuable to God.
I
am valuable to God.

He loves us so much.

I Wonder...

Do any of you artists ever have days when the creativity just isn't flowing?

I love to create...
I love to dabble in this and that
and
I even make things periodically to sell...
but...
I have been in a slump lately.

The creativity is just itching to get out even as I sit and type this.
I want to be making something...
creating anything...
wonderful,
but what...

For now I will continue to ponder and I will share these lovelies with you~
I love vintage postcards with scripture verses on them.
Imagine my delight when I found not one , but four this past weekend.
50 cents each...snatched them up right away.

I like to think I am stimulating our lagging economy with my $2.00 purchases here and there, but I highly doubt it. LOL

This verse is for you (MG)...praying for you.

I think I made the resolution on these high enough so that if you right click on them, they will get larger and then you can save them to your computer.

You are INSCRIBED on His hand ~

I made this hanging collage today and I really like how it turned out. Using neutral colors I rubber stamped a scripture verse on scrapbook paper for the center image. Then I embellished it with flowers, buttons, trim etc. It is a great reminder for all of us in these uncertain times that God loves us and is watching over us. It is for sale in my Etsy store if you are interested. Blessings ~

Quietness and Confidence~

When I found these small vintage mirrors last summer while I was shopping , I just had to pick them up and at $2.49 each they were a steal! I love the Bible verses that are engraved on each one and the pink flowers along the bottom are a beautiful bonus! They are such wonderful pieces to decorate with where you need a *little something* and they also remind me each day who is in control...and it is not *me*. Have a beautiful day! Blessings ~

Become Like Little Children...

I wanted to share something with you today that my son posted on his family site and it really touched my heart...I hope it touches yours too. Have a blessed Monday!
"Matthew 18:3 says "And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'
"Growing up this verse or this concept was always related to a child's faith. Jump off the table and daddy will be there to catch you; get hurt and mommy will be there to comfort you. A child has absolute faith in their parents to be there for them and in turn we have been taught that this is the meaning of the verse.
After being a father for only one year I have come to a different understanding of this verse.
Have you ever watched your child through the day; watched how they interact with their parents. Mom and Dad literally ARE their life. One story for us particularly comes to mind to describe what I mean.
Liss and I were getting ready to eat dinner one night so as always we had our TV trays set up in the living room. Keira was playing around the couch and Liss was going into the kitchen (probably to get the food...I don't remember why because this isn't the important part). Upon seeing Liss leave the room as she often does Keira started following her mommy out.
Problem: The TV tray next to the couch was directly between her and the path to get to mom. Solution: Who cares.
Keira proceeded to try and push her way through the hole between the tv tray and the couch. She of course started crying because she couldn't make it through, but being a typical father I decided to wait a moment and see what would happen. Would she backtrack, sit up and wait for help? Neither.
This little girl was so intent on getting to her mother that she didn't care what stood in the way. She wasn't making any headway. It was obvious she would never make it through, but this little girl didn't care. She kept pushing and pushing causing more pain to herself until daddy finally came to the rescue and freed her from her prison allowing her to continue her single-minded pursuit.
This is the understanding I've come to know from this verse. It's not "jump and I will catch you" it's "push, pull, scrunch, twist...do what you have to do to seek me with all your heart.
"Do this...be like a child. Have a single-minded pursuit of me like a child. Stop at nothing to find me like a child.
Matthew 18:3 says "And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'"
