Reminiscing...our handmade doll house from a Christmas long ago~

Several years ago I drove out to my parents house while they were away and took several
snapshots of the dollhouse that my parents made for my sister and I one Christmas. I'm guessing
it was made in the 60's. We adored that dollhouse and as I got older I could really appreciate the love
and care that went into making it. It was so special to us!

My mom used a large cardboard box and her attention to detail was amazing! Dad made the wood
items, but she created all the rest of it.

It has seen better days, but I will always love it.  After all it is decades old, but it still stands.  My
daughter played with it when she was small along with several nieces of mine and I am pretty sure
that my granddaughters may have played with it as well. I will have to check that out.

I just love this little wooden candle-holder that my daddy made!

Mom even added a picture above the fireplace that I am guessing was from a
Christmas card. She didn't leave out any details for sure.

Girls just HAVE to have a mirror. (smile) Poor little chest of drawers is showing it's age, but
that's ok. I am too! ha!

My mom  used a round oatmeal container for the chair and even added a ruffle.

The curtains with rick rack...can you say PRECIOUS?

My dads attention to detail on these beds was a sign of the wonderful cabinet maker he would
become in the years that followed.

A crocheted rug...or knitted? I'm not sure, but mom sure made it special!

Mom added wallpaper along with "wood" floors and "bricks" on the fireplace with a black marker.

Not just any old pillow, but a lace edged pillow for her girls.

I am so very thankful for my parents and their love for us all through our lives!! Dad is almost 87
and mom is almost 82 and I am so thankful that they are still with us. They were the most loving
parents a child could have and instilled in us right from wrong and brought us up to
know and love Jesus. What a legacy!!

Merry Christmas to each one of you!!

I have been bitten!

I know...I can't believe it myself, but the creativity bug
has finally bitten!! I actually sat down this morning
and finished up these french lavender sachets that I
started several days ago. I do love how they turned
out and they are now in my Etsy store. If you don't
do Etsy just give me a shout out. :)
{I do have more sachets than I have listed if you
need more as well}

I tend to get carried away taking photos.

I made three different styles.

I embellished them with crinkle ribbon and paper tags for a little something extra.

Little sachets all hanging out together...hee hee.
Happy Thursday! Blessings~

Aprons and...They Have Finally Arrived!

Yesterday when I got up I decided I wanted to make an apron. I probably have six or eight apron patterns that I got when they were on sale at one time or another for 99 cents each and I decided it was high time I made one. So I am guessing I started cutting the fabric out about 9 ish or 9:30...I was ALL DONE by 11:30. YAY!! I love the style of the pattern with the flared flounce at the bottom.

I also started a full apron awhile ago and was working on it a couple days ago and I got frustrated so I decided to make this one for now. The other one is almost done, but...silly me. I have sewn for so long that I ususally don't transfer the markings from the pattern and that is one that should have been marked so...gotta do a little remake, but no biggie. I will post it when finished. But I decided I will NOT be making the full aprons to sell. LOL
I don't know if you can tell or not, but there is a pocket sewn on the front of the apron...gotta have somewhere to stuff those hankies for our hormonal times. lol BE STILL MY HEART...
...My gorgeous peonies have finally opened! They unfurled their petals in a grand display for all to see and it was so worth the wait. I love them!
Peonies and vintage lace...doesn't get much better than this. Love their intricate petals ~
I love taking photos and sometimes I just get snapping away and don't know when to stop. I probably took 50 and saved 25. Now isn't that a little ridiculous don't you think? I have to stop and remind myself periodically that you all don't want to see 25 pictures of the same thing (lol) so I managed to get them pared down to these four...Hope it isn't too many. I do get a little carried away.

Snow, Sewing and A SALE ~

Can you believe that we woke up to this powdery white stuff again today??? Good grief...it is April 6th...enough already!!! LOL
So it got me thinking ... what better thing to do than start sewing and also have a sale . I am having a BOGO sale in my Etsy shop. You can get to my shop and read all the details by clicking here. So if you have been eyeing anything now is the time .
Love this pattern and I decided I wasn't going to put off making one any longer. I have several apron patterns that I have purchased over the years, and had yet to actually sit down and make one. So I started....
This is my apron partially sewn. Don't you just love the fabric !! I have had it in my stash for quite some time . I used to sew a lot, but have gotten away from it over the years. I hope to start back up again soon and make some lovely items for my Etsy shop. Blessings to you today ~

I was playing around with my vintage patterns one day and came up with this original design and I really like how they turned out. I have sold several of them on my Etsy site so be sure and check them out if you like vintage sewing items. Have a wonderful day filled with unexpected blessings! Sandi
