Old books...do you actually read them?

I wanted to share a few of my new acquisitions with you
before I help watch Ainsley and Annika.
Her mommy starts back to college today and my son is
unemployed for a few weeks so I told him I would help.
Yay!! Don't have to ask me twice! :)

I found all these books at a little store that I frequent
often and they were still in the box at the counter.
People were digging through it and when it came my
turn it did not take me long to scoop up these oldies
with the beautiful covers....which got me to thinking...
do you actually read the old books you purchase or do
you just display them?

I think I would love to read them or at least some of
them if I could find the time.

Love this title: Fussbudget's Folks Now that title intriques me.

This book is titled *Among the Trees*...
so neat.

Happy, happy Monday to my bloggy friends. May
your day be blessed!

They are beautiful Sandi, great find! I love old books, but I guess I never really read them, just display them for their beauty...maybe that is something I should change!

Happy New Year!

i am sooo drawn to old books especially the ones like yours with those gorgeous cover images. to answer your question...mais oui...i DO read some of them! I once found a vintage book of all of the Jane Austen novels condense. it was the first time they were ever published all together in one volume. that summer i finally got around to reading all of her novels since i had them conveniently in ONE book! i also have lots of vintage books of poetry and i do like to read those as well. have fun with your grandchildren today!

Those books are so pretty! I have been wanting to make one of those neat wreaths with the book pages. I buy old books, and then I just can't bring myself to rip them apart! I think maybe if I read them first it won't be so bad, but I haven't found time to read them yet! So, I bought an ugly book that I had no interest in and went to town ripping it up! Have fun babysitting your little angels!!

Hi Sandi..

Your collection of old books is fabulous and you must have been thrilled to find them. I see pretty books like those when I'm out antiquing but have never purchased them as the've always been a bit expensive and over my budget. It would be fun to sit and read them though and see how different the writing/storytelling is as compared to the present day.

A good way to spend a cold winters day!!

I usually read them. I think the Among the Trees is calling my name. :) Oh my goodness, I just realized you have Byron's Poems. I thought it was Brown's Poems. How lovely! Those are splendid treasures!

Oh my, I'm having book envy! Those are beautiful! I love books, and I do try to read them. Sometimes the cover is better than the insides, but I found some real favorites that way too!

Sandi - these are so beautiful! I would certainly display them - and if I had the time I most definately would want to read them. Sounds like a snowy day project to me! You were so lucky to find such beautiful books - they will make a lovely display in your home~~
