Grandma's Apron ~

I adore vintage aprons and I have picked up several here and there for a little of nothing over the years. I listed a few of them on my Etsy site and that got me thinking about my own Grandma who has passed on, but I remember so well how she literally wore an apron every day. It was just part of her "dress" back then and you rarely saw her without one on. She also made the absolute BEST maple cinnamon rolls ever! People would come from miles around to get a taste of her wonderful rolls. Homemade cinnamon rolls with maple frosting...my mouth is watering just thinking about them. When my siblings and I would visit and Grandma was making rolls, we would always snitch some of the raw dough and pop it in our mouth. It was sooooooo good! ( I know that is a no-no today) And the best thing was that Grandma didn't care. She was also the best example of a wonderful Christian lady and didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. She passed away in July of 1977 and I sure miss her...
Grandma's Apron

The strings were tied, it was freshly washed, and maybe even pressed. For Grandma, it was everyday to choose one when she dressed. The simple apron that it was, you would never think about; the things she used it for, that made it look worn out.
She may have used it to hold some wildflowers that she'd found. Or to hide a crying child's face when a stranger came around. Imagine all the little tears that were wiped with just that cloth. Or it became a potholder to serve some chicken broth.
She probably carried kindling to stoke the kitchen fire. To hold a load of laundry, or to wipe the clothesline wire. When canning all her vegetables, it was used to wipe her brow. You never know, she might have used it to shoo flies from the cow.
She might have carried eggs in from the chicken coop outside. Whatever chore she used it for, she did them all with pride. When Grandma went to heaven, God said she now could rest. I'm sure the apron that she chose, was her Sunday best.
Blessings today ~

How lucky for you that you have such wonderful memories of your Grandmother. She sounds like she was a very special lady. I feel exactly the same way about my Grandmother. There was nothing better than going to Grandmas and getting served a nice big bowl of her her homemade tomato soup. Yum!! I love how you are able to display all of your pretty aprons on the dress form. What a fun way to change the look of the room in a simple and easy way.

Hi Sandi,
Thank you for the help with my hyacynth dilemma. I had thought about using some lace or fabric, you know how it goes, something will just jump out at me and it will be just the thing.
I am trying to make myself a little crafting area out of a closet but can't seem to find ideas. Would you mind posting photos of your studio? I think you and I are very similar in our decorating taste. Thanks so much.
