Oh the things we do...and redo!

I recently purchased two shelving units for my studio that are made out of barn siding, painted white and then distressed. I love both of them! One has a vintage screen door on the front to close it off and this one does not.
So you know what that means...I had an excuse to rearrange my studio all over again!

This is an old vanity that I have had for several years that was in the back porch entry way, but I put my chippy, new, old table there and brought this one in here. I purchased it at a garage sale for $2.00.

Even the floor lamp doesn't escape some vintage lace treatment.

One of my ribbon centers and my inspiration board.

The lighting in this room stinks. I had to jump through hoops to get halfway decent photos!  I reallyyyy need to take a photography course to find out what in the heck I am doing. LOL!

One of my stacks of vintage tablecloths, pillowcases, lace etc.

One can never have too much vintage lace. :)

I found these iron fleur-de-lis several weeks ago at Hobby Lobby in their 90% off pile so I had to add them to my studio.

A wonderful lavender sachet that came from Little Cottage Shoppe. I ordered several of her Jeanne d' Arc scarves that she was selling at half off and she included this in one of my packages. Love it!

This is the cabinet with the screen door on the front...love it!
A closeup for you of my berry box filled with goodies that I purchased from Becky over at Timewashed! I LOVE the detail and care that she puts into each package. I really need to hang these up so they can be seen. Of couse I haven't actually used anything or even opened anything that I bought from her yet. Do you do that too? I just love pretties!!

My inspiration board with some fun goodies on it.

I love little button cards with the buttons still attached.

One day while looking through Pinterest , I was inspired to round up all my old salt and pepper shakers and fill them with glitter. Sure makes for a pretty picture. :)

More glitter love...

Pretty boxes...this particular day the lighting was extra horrible with shadows and everything. hee hee

Little metal tins that I found at a garage sale a few years ago for 25 cents each. I LOVE THEM, but sold most of them and all I have left are these two. WHAT was I thinking?? Oh, the life of a creator and seller.

The crowning touch...my Goodwill chair!! I didn't have to do one thing to this except wipe it down cause I always do that. It is PERFECT in this room. I took out the huge, BLACK, clunky, rolling wheel computer chair and put this in and was instantly a happy camper! We rolled the black, ugly chair out the door to the roadside with a free sign and the neighbor snatched it up! She said her daughter is thrilled with her new desk chair. :) I love to share, don't you?

Here we are again...back at the beginning. ha ha!! Guess I didn't need this in here again.
I hope you enjoyed your tour of the south end of the studio/computer room. One of these days I will get the other end redone and show it also.

I will say this about "redoing" things. This room was a porch when we moved here back in 1982. The inside walls {that we covered up with paneling and then wallpapered} are a light gray board and batten!! Every day I would like to rip this paneling off and have those walls showing, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe one of these days. It also has a cement floor underneath the berber carpet...gray...oh the things I could do with that. LIVE and LEARN ...or so we hope. Ha! Happy weekend!!

I picked them just for you!

I went outside this morning to do some not so glamorous things {take out the trash, dump the garbage etc.} and picked a few of my remaining flowers that are fast fading away into oblivion.

Pink hollyhocks, fairy rose and a purple weed/flower that is found all along the roadsides here in Michigan. I did notice that the stems of this weed/flower are covered with little tiny bugs so I only brought three stems inside to use.

I try to squeeze out every last ounce of pink flower love that I can before fall hits. *smile*

What about you? Are your flowers fast fading away ?

The nights are turning cooler , but the days are still HOT and HUMID here. I think we are getting the summer now that we didn't get in July and the beginning of August. I am so over any hot and humid weather, even though we really didn't get as much as we usually get this year. I am one happy camper!

Yep, this is one girl who is not crazy at all for hot weather. I am not a beach or sun girl either. I never did like to lay in the sun. My sister and I are polar opposites. She LOVES the sun , sand and water and I would rather stay away from it. Don't get me wrong, I like to dip my feel in the ocean or sit on a pier dangling my legs over the edge, but it rarely happens and I am okay with that.   Gods beauty is all around me no matter where my eyes happen to wander in my little corner of the world.

The prairie weeds/flower. I know these have a name , but I just can't think of it right now.

Praying you all have a lovely Wednesday and rest of the week!

Via Pinterest today:

It's Wednesday.
I'm breathing.
I'm alive.
I'm blessed.
God is good!

Are you ready??

I took a stroll outside yesterday and took a few snapshots of the last vestiges of summer.

 Does that make sense?

I know "Vestige" means " a trace of something that is disappearing or no longer exists".

Sounds like summer to me. :)

My gorgeous hollyhocks that have a very few flowers left on them. I really need to do some trimming today, but the weather here calls for HOT, HOT, and more HOT along with possible rain.
That part of summer has NOT disappeared.

I can't believe that I have beautiful flowers like this and also leaves falling from the trees. Just seems wrong somehow.

I found that the huge field directly across from our house is filled with big orange pumpkins.

Definitely FALL coming!!  I am ready...

Are YOU ready??

Digging in the archives...

"Grandma, I found a princess dress!!"

"You found a princess dress?"

"YES, can I wear it?"

"I really like this princess dress"...

pretty shoes and toenails for a pretty little princess

even pretty fingernails...

"Look what else I found!! "

{there are many treasures to be find at gmas house!! }

"this is so pretty Grandma"...

"I can do it myself"...

YAY...success...with just a little help. :)

" Can I wear some of these too?"

"No , sweetie "

"WHY NOT??"

"because you don't have holes in your ears"...lol

"okay, I will wear this pretty necklace"...

Thus went the conversation a few years ago when a younger Annika was visiting me for awhile. I remember it like it was yesterday, but I had no clue what she was talking about...a princess dress???
When I went upstairs with her and saw the dress , I said ,

"YES, and we MUST take some pictures!"

You see this was MY DRESS when I was a wee lass 50 + years ago. I was probably about Annika's age when I wore it.  My sweet Annika is now six years old so she no longer fits in the dress, but I must try it on her little sister Ainsley and get photos also.

How fun to travel back to years ago all because of a dress and my sweet little granddaughter.

{These photos were taken a few years ago also and as such aren't the best quality, but I still wanted to share them with you}

Happy Monday!!

Strep infection in the middle of summer?

I have been longing to take pretty photos to share here with you. It has been awhile since I have been able to do that and it is driving me crazy. I even took a long way home today to see if I could find something I wanted to photograph and NADA! NILCH! NOTHING!  So , I pulled out the old homestead card again and just walked around my property. Love this tub filled with white flowers on my deck. I had the same thing in it last year along with  white allysum that somehow got left out this year. Hmm...someone obviously was not paying attention. *Smile*

I would love to find a whole field of Queen Annes Lace, but little bits here and there will have to do for now. I do love that prairie weed ...I mean flower!

This has not been a pleasant week around the Boothman house. It started with me on Tuesday. I got out of bed and felt like a mac truck had ran over me. My throat was sooooooooo sore and I just ached all over. I figured a 24 hour bug that would disappear fast. Not. So. Much.  It hung on and hung on...just started feeling somewhat normal late yesterday and today. Still have a little sore throat , but nothing like it was.

IN THE MEANTIME...

Hubby came home from work Thursday at 9 am. Now this is not a good sign when he normally gets home at 3:30 or later. He was full blown SICK! Same as me, but it hit him even harder...so hard that I hauled him into the doctor yesterday. You have to understand that this man NEVER goes to the doctor and NEVER misses work. He has full blown strep infection and is a mess. He is on an antibiotic and I am praying that it starts working extra hard soon so could you please pray for that too?  He is still having a lot of pain in his throat and his glands are swollen etc.   Oh yes, when he came home early Thursday, he told me that he had started to doze off on the way to work and also ended up hitting a small deer. Lord have mercy!! It didn't hurt his battered , old, pickup truck, but I think it was about the last straw for him the way he was feeling. Thank you so much for your prayers!!

Moving Day

This weekend was very busy for us as we helped our son and his family move into this gorgeous home! They are first time home owners and they were very excited. I am thrilled for them also...isn't this a beauty???!!!

I fell in love with their back yard and their cottage style garage!! It is just beautiful and I am in
L.O.V.E.

The beautiful view from the back

I was taking a photo and who appeared in my camera lens by chance?? This little stinker!! lol   Our granddaughter Annika.

I was amazed by this beautiful chimney and the gorgeous windows. No details were spared in the building of this home even though it was many years ago.

Don't you just love this little garage? The door is tri fold I believe and it needs a little work, but is definitely worth working on.

Side of the cottage garage

Another view of the backyard

I love their front entryway and did you notice the place for a flag between the columns and up a little higher?
LOVE IT!

There's our Natey...so happy for him...them!!

Obviously I got carried away adding photos of the back yard area...oops. :)

I would spend  a  little time hours on this swing every single day !!

Son backing up the moving trailer. He repeated this process a few times. lol.

Sweet little granddaughter Ainsley

This is what you see when you enter the front door!! So much character and potential for this amazing home. They want to remove the carpet and from a quick peek that my daughter-in-law and I took,  it appears that there is hardwood underneath!! Hoping and praying that is is in great condition!

Relatively new kitchen in very nice condition.

Sorry for the indoor photos...they didn't turn out so great.

A linen closet at the top of the stairs

I even fell in love with their attic!! Wouldn't this be an amazing room to create in...*sigh*

I think these two little angels came with the house. heehee

The happy, happy, happy family!!

I had to snap this photo quick!! *smile*

Another feature of the home that I adore! When you walk in the front door, there is this little entry to hang coats and take off your shoes and then you enter this multiple paned door to the house. LOVE it!

Another beautiful built in corner cabinet. Yes, there is lots of wallpaper and they want to take it down or paint over it. We will see how that goes.  Tons of lace curtains came with the home.

Colette is so , so happy and we are very happy for them.

If you think about it, please say a prayer for our two beautiful granddaughers Annika and Ainsley. Along with moving this weekend, they also had to leave their cats behind and Annika also starts school in a brand new school system on Thursday I believe. They also have had new babysitters for a couple weeks and that is a lot for two little gals to handle all at once. I am sure they will adapt, but if you could just breathe a prayer for them I would appreciate it so much.

A fun, but exhausting weekend and it is just beginning for them. They still have tons of stuff to unpack and put away, but I told them not to rush it. I said, "take your time"...the stuff isn't going anywhere. Of course you do know that you can unpack 20 boxes , but the ones you didn't unpack will be holding the items you need before you dash out the door.

God is so good and we are very thankful and grateful for our family!
Congratulations to Nathan, Colette, Annika and Ainsley!!

We love you more!!!!!!!!
