Pink Saturday ~ Vintage Treats

This is my first time participating in Beverly's Pink Saturday over at How Sweet the Sound and I tried to come up with a unique idea to start things off. Do you remember playing this game at parties? You put several items on a tray and pass it around for a limited time and then you take it away and everyone tries to remember what was on the tray? That was my inspiration for this post. I hope you enjoy all my vintage "pink goodies" today ~ I have amassed quite a collection of paint chips and one of these days I will think of something to do with them. I love this little pink cat pin...it is from my childhood ~
Gotta love these vintage "BON TON" buttons! Several years ago when I was visiting my sister in Pennsylvania she took me to a Salvation Army thrift store which was known jokingly out there as the "Bon Ton". When I found these buttons sometime later, I just had to pick them up !
Lots of vintage goodness here ~
Vintage pink rick rack, lace and hanky and straight pins ~
Do you remember these pink curler picks from years ago?? I found an unopened package and added them to my collection of vintage goodness ~
I hope you enjoyed my trip down "memory lane" and if you have time today go ahead and study my pictures for a few minutes and then see if you can remember all the goodies displayed! Have a wonderful day! Blessings~

Vintage Wrapping Paper ~

Come and take a trip with me down memory lane as you gaze at these vintage wrapping paper images. Aren't they just adorable? I just love them all. I found them at a little gift shop last week and had to bring them home with me.
I do love to actually use old gift paper to wrap a special gift, but for some reason I feel the need to hang onto it for a while before I can cut into it. Then after some length of time has passed I deem it *OKAY* to use. Am I strange or what?

I am hoping to have lunch with my best friend today. We don't see each other near as much as I would like so I cherish the times that we do get to spend together. We will probably eat at *SEASONS BISTRO* and maybe have their delicious white chicken chili! Yumm...it sounds so good right now in this cold weather! Have a wonderful day! Blessings ~

Valentine Goodness ~

I thought I would share the valentine box that my mother decorated several years ago and filled with candy for hubby and I. She covered an old valentine box with vintage wallpaper and embellished it with lace, pearls ,ribbon and a large rose. Love it!

For those of you who are trying to follow my progess on my stairway wall I apologize. I have not had much time to work on it lately. Hopefully I can get to that soon. Also, the person I contacted about getting wall words has yet to get ahold of me so I am playing a waiting game there as well. I hope to get the wall repainted by this weekend and get things moving along. I do hope you have a day filled with unexpected blessings ~

Neutral Shades of Inspiration ~

I do love my *PINK* , but I also love neutral tones in my decor. Most of these pictures were taken in my living/dining room. Love this wreath hanging on a huge old mirror ~ My favorite lampshade ~
The best lampshade finial ever that is on the lampshade above ~
A picture in my home that fits right in my decor ~
Love this old book titled *MILDRED*...isn't she beautiful ~
I purchased this mitten garland several years ago and it is still one of my favorite decorating pieces. It is made with old tin ceiling tile and has tallow berries on the mittens and giant leaves (maybe magnolia) strung between them. The leaves were green at one time, but not anymore. Love it!
I woke up to more snow again and I just want winter to be over. Usually I really don't mind winter, but I think we have had more than our fair share this year. I know I need to be thankful that I even woke up today and that I am alive so I will try to focus on that...but please no more snow...:)

Today is my day to watch my sweetie granddaughter *ANNIKA* so I must get busy if I am to get anything else done before she arrives. Blessings to you all today ~

Quietness and Confidence~

When I found these small vintage mirrors last summer while I was shopping , I just had to pick them up and at $2.49 each they were a steal! I love the Bible verses that are engraved on each one and the pink flowers along the bottom are a beautiful bonus! They are such wonderful pieces to decorate with where you need a *little something* and they also remind me each day who is in control...and it is not *me*. Have a beautiful day! Blessings ~

Amazing Coffee Drink~

I had to share my favorite coffee drink here at home. Have you ever had this? General Foods International... French Vanilla Nut? I am hooked on it! Most days I top it off with whipped cream and a tiny sprinkling of cinnamon/sugar and it is just delicious ~
Today was spent going to church this morning and then off to our youngest son's house for lunch and grandbaby time! I can't believe that precious little girl will be two years old in March already. She is a sweetheart and we enjoy her so much. She has decided she absolutely loves those little grape tomatoes. Can you believe it? At her age...amazing! She calls them *TOES* which is just too cute! She came up to me when I was preparing them saying, *TOES....TOES...* I think she must have eaten 10 or more of them. Too funny! And she eats the whole thing! When she started this a few months ago she would suck the insides out and leave the skin, but not anymore. She is a *TOE* lover all the way! I hope you had a wonderful day! Blessings ~

Beautiful Blog Award ~

I am so excited...I have won my first blog award! This award was given to me by Sandra at Shabby Rose Cottage . I was shocked and honored at the same time to receive it. I am to pass it along so I will be taking care of that in the next few days! Blessings ~

Vintage Wicker Purse Find ~

Is this the sweetest vintage purse you have ever seen ? I love it! I found it at a thrift store this weekend for a little of nothing and was thrilled! It has a label inside that is printed, " It's in the Bag Made in Japan exclusively for Ritter". This little beauty will have a special place in my home along with all my other old wicker baskets.

If you remember a few posts back I am working on my upstairs wall. Today I painted the stairway ceiling and it was a feat in itself. Not wanting to rent scaffolding and always trying to do things on the *CHEAP* I used my hubbys telescoping pole with a paintbrush duct taped to the end of it to do the edges and then I put a roller on it to do the rest. Interesting to say the least, but I did manage to get it done. Where is my 6 foot 1 inch son when I need him?? Not here that's for sure! LOL Next it will be on to painting the walls since they really need it again and then I will start the decorating process . I am pretty sure that above the mirror I want to put some *WALL WORDS* , but I am just trying to decide what saying I want.

I do hope you have a lovely weekend ! Blessings ~

Antique Silverware~

Don't you just love antique silverware...especially *PRETTY* silverware? I do and I decided it was time to polish some of my pieces again today. I picked out a few pieces that I especially love to share with you.

I think the *ROSE* and *SWIRL* motifs on each of the ladels is just beautiful. My mother gave me the *SWIRL* motif ladel for my birthday several years ago and it also has a monogram *B* on the handle. (for my last name) I think it is so pretty...and the roses on the other ladel are just to die for!

The weather is much better here today. Who would have thought that we would think 32 degrees is warm...like a heat wave! LOL It is much nicer than the bone chilling cold we have been having for several days. I even walked to the mailbox today without a coat and thought it was so nice! I suppose it is all relative. I hope you are having a wonderful day today! Blessings ~

Day of Antiquing ~

I spent the day today in Allen, Michigan and had a fun time. I just love to browse others treasures and see what goodies have arrived since my last visit. They have at least 5 antique malls (two are huge!) and it takes me all day to get through them. Needless to say with all the *STUFF* that I saw I didn't find much at all to bring home with me. I did find a few vintage hankies and one other trinket, but that is all. Oh don't get me wrong...lot's of pretties, but none that I needed...I need to get back in the swing of things tomorrow. Blessings~

Upstairs Wall Progress ~

This is what I have done so far on the upstairs wall that I wrote about a few posts back. I am not sure that I will leave the greenery swag up, but until I figure out what else I am going to do for sure I will leave it there. What do you think? Leave the swag up or take it down? I am also going to put up some empty antique frames with fabric or tulle swagged ...that is the plan anyways. I am in the process of painting the frames an antique cream color. I do love this mirror up there. Progressing slowly but surely ~ Blessings!

New Blog Signature ~

I had Michelle over at Shabby Creations create a signature for my blog posts and I love how it turned out. I have been in the process of making my blog *PRETTIER*over the past several days and I am enjoying every minute . Until next time...blessings!

Antique Plates on Parade ~

I thought I would share a few of my antique plates with you that I just adore. Most of these are hanging on my walls and they add such character and beauty from years past, but I also do use them from time to time . I used to think that a person should only pull out the *GOOD* dishes when having company , but not anymore. Beauty is meant to be shared everyday and I love to use my antique dishes. Isn't this plate just dreamy with it's pink border and lush rose sprays... Love the roses again on this one and the muted green colors as well ~ I fell in love with this plate as soon as I spied it at an antique store. If I remember correctly I think I paid $3 for this one. What a steal! I also love old plates that show their age with crazing, discoloration etc. They just speak to me and have a special place in my heart ~ Another beauty...do you notice a running theme here....roses and pink ~
I purchased several of these plates and a matching bowl at a garage sale several years ago. They are very old and I paid a whopping $2 for the lot. I listed a couple on ebay soon afterwards and sold two plates for much more than I paid for them. I was very surprised to say the least. These plates are very shabby looking with missing paint etc. but I love them as is.
Another shabby looking plate with crazing that is very old ~
Last but not least is this beautiful plate. Most of these plates were from $1 - $5 each. There are still bargains out there if you really look.
I hope you enjoyed your *TOUR* of my antique plates on parade. Blessings! Sandi
