Keeping busy while I wait...

I have been trying to stay busy since my car has been down and I really haven't had the
urge to go anywhere! That is a good thing since we are now on WEEK 3! Don't get me
wrong, I do get out in the evenings once in awhile when hubby gets home from work,
but I can't just hop in my car and go during the day because it is not here. lol


I have been creating with old book covers and embellishing some cabinet cards.
Above is a work in progress...not done, but trying to decide where I want to
put the trim and buttons.

This is one of the cabinet cards that I embellished and it is already sold. :)

Meet SADIE! Isn't she adorable?? I have an old,old songbook that has the names of
women for some of the titles. It is the strangest thing. It is a church songbook and the
name has absolutely nothing to do with the song. I haven't a clue how that came
about, but it is nice to find some neat names to use in my creations.

...and this is Elizabeth. I thought the names that I choose fit each person. :)

Have you ever painted a book?? I hadn't until I painted this one. It was an ugly yellow
color. I thought it couldn't possibly look any worse with a coat of white paint so
 paint it I did! I really like it now. I added some seam binding ribbon,vintage lace and a
 clip on earring. It will go in my Etsy store soon.

These are wooden buckets that I decoupaged on. Not the greatest photo, but you get the idea.

Well...there went my blog signature again. I get so aggravated when I accidentally push a key on the
keyboard and WHOOSH...it blows it away *sigh*}

Trying to keep busy...

GOOD NEWS...we pick up the car AGAIN tomorrow. Did you read my post where we had to have
the tranny rebuilt in Pennsylvania...our car stranded us? Well, on the way home it had a horrible
clunking noise that just kept getting worse so we had to take it to another shop 1.5 hours away.
Hubby kept telling me he just thought something didn't get tightened from when they did the
transmisson and he was right!! They found a lose bolt. Strange how much noise a lose bolt
can make, but my son informed me that it wasn't the bolt making the noise. It was whatever the
bolt was supposed to be holding in place that was moving around and making the noise.
Brilliant kid there!! I wonder where he got that?? lol

My house looks like disaster central right now

because:



there is stuff everywhere!!

totes, boxes, gift wrap, tape, dishes, food, pans,

clothes, {unmade bed...shh...I usually get it made before

this time of day}, messy bathroom, cluttered kitchen, dishes in the sink,

dining room table laden down with ribbon , tape, my

creations, magazines...you get the picture!!

but...soon
I will:


help my son and dil make thanksgiving dinner,

feast on turkey and all the trimmings,

inhale some pumkin scones and

thank God for my abundantly blessed life!

reminisce about the past,

hug and kiss my grands,

laugh until my sides hurt and

thank God for my abundantly blessed life!

sleep in a warm bed,

sit in front of a cozy fireplace,

snuggle under a soft blanket and

thank God for my abundantly blessed life!

celebrate Christmas with our children and grands,

sit back and watch as they squeal in delight when opening gifts,

enjoy time with my family and

thank God for my abundantly blessed life!

Thanking Him today because I have totes ,boxes, gift wrap, tape

{it means I have been blessed with things that are not a necessity}

dishes, food, pans

{it means I have plenty to eat}


clothes, unmade bed

{it means I have a warm place to sleep and clothes for my back}

messy bathroom, cluttered kitchen, dishes in the sink, dining room table laden down with ribbon, tape, my creations, magazines and so much more than I deserve!!!!

{it means I have a roof over my head}

I am also so very thankful for each and every one of you who have come into my life via internet. I would have never dreamed how blessed my life would become because of you! Praying each and every one of you have the most blessed Thanksgiving ever!!

Childlike Excitement!

If I don't receive one more thing this year

for Christmas I will be content and thrilled ~

this magazine came

today...

excitement filled me like a child at Christmas

i couldn't wait to open it and

see all the beauty inside~

it did not disappoint

i have been steaming around all day

cleaning and decorating

but...

i did take a peek~

breathtakingly beautiful!

isn't the wrapping alone so beautiful~ love all the special little touches~ even a pretty sticker on the foam wrap~ and here is what was inside i love it it just sparkles and shines i hung it on my antique mirror {photos to follow later}

these two things are all i wanted for Christmas and i adore them both

i am blessed indeed !

Emotions and Shopping Therapy??

I always tend to do most things backwards so we will start with the therapy first.

After a somewhat blue day Tuesday I just had to get away so I decided to go antiquing at one of my favorite stores. My plan was to go there

and spend a few hours rummaging through old books and postcards

that are almost a dime a dozen since they are closing soon.

Had to go on to plan B when I arrived and they were not open.

So...I hit the antique malls in the same town instead.

Knowing I didn't have a lot of money to spend I thought I did pretty well ~

These wire easels were only $2.59 each, but then they were 40% off so I got the two they had for 1.55 each. I can always use easels and these are even pretty ones~ (purchased them at the craft part of one antique mall)

ADORABLE is all I can say ~ I had to get this sign...anyone who really knows me knows that *I LOVE chocolate* so this was perfect...even the colors ~Speaking of emotions...

I let my emotions get the best of me some days even though I try so hard not to. I spent the better part of the morning and some of the afternoon Tuesday

falling apart and crying over a family situation that involves

this precious little granddaughter of mine.

All the while knowing there is absolutely nothing in my power

that I can do to change anything.

As a mom I want to fix things , but I can't do that anymore.

However, I do know a God who is all powerful and He alone can change hearts...

praying for that today.

I can see Him working, but I want everything fixed instantly and completely.

I need to learn that these things do not happen on my terms, but on God's terms and according to His perfect timing.

I really had to make myself stop the tears because we had friends coming over for dinner (which haven't been here in a long time and we did have a great time with them) Sometimes I think if I just have a good all out bawling session maybe I could get it out of my system. I think it is probably even good for the soul.

Cast all your cares upon Him; for He careth for you.

I Am BLESSED ~

I have always loved these glitter signs and I am definitely *BLESSED*...no matter what we are going through at the moment, even though at times the worries of the day may seem insurmountable, most of us can truly say we are very blessed. (*BLESSED* photo from Alice over at Painted White)

I have a CD from a christian singing group that has performed at our church and the title song is called, *I AM BLESSED* When I pop it in my cd player as I am driving in my car, I end up singing and crying every time. It is a song that just touches your heart and soul and I love it! Some of the words:

*I am Blessed, I am Blessed, Every day that I live I am blessed, When I wake up in the morning till I lay my head to rest...I am Blessed, I am Blessed*
