Tinkering

It has been a long time since I have been able to "tinker" {as Elyse calls it}

I like that word.

I had some extra time on my hands today so I hauled out my supplies and got started.
Easter is coming up pretty fast and I wanted to make some white crosses.

 I have always been enamored with pretty papers, and all the little tid bits that most people
just throw away. Not me.  I keep them ALL to make

something...anything.
...and once in awhile inspiration actually hits. ha!

{a little hoarding tendencies maybe? No, not me??}

This craft is so easy that even the kiddos can do it so get your little ones
at the table , gather up your supplies and let's begin!

I used some almost transparent white paper from my stash along with cheesecloth,
rubber stamps and flowers.

{I won these pretty flowers in a giveaway from Elyse several months ago}

I had several stamps to choose from and the one I chose says:

 "he has risen". 

I started folding the paper at one end and folded it over several times.

Then I cut off the excess and glued it down.

I also tore off the ends instead of cutting them off to make it more rustic looking.

Next , pick your rubber stamp of choice and stamp it right onto the cross.

I adore cheesecloth and use it for so many things. I took a piece of it and wound it
around the cross. You can wind it any way you choose. No right or wrong ways here.

I glued the cheesecloth down in a few places and then added some flowers.

{Now that I look at the three I finished, I should have used assorted stamps, but oh well}

Wouldn't these be cute to lay on each plate for Easter dinner?

As I said...SIMPLE and EASY PEASY...anyone can make these.

I am almost embarrassed to even put the instructions on here.

You could even add some thin silver string at the top to hang them up if you so desired.

Rock and Roll Tree ?

Yesterday I decided it was time to create so I whipped up this paper tree. I have made paper
trees that are round , but haven't made any square ones until I made this one and I love it!

I have cut tons of round circles in the past and now I am cutting tons of squares! :)

I added a tiny vintage ornament for the tree topper along with some glass glitter and she
just sparkles.

I did have a blooper along the way though. I thought it would be so cute with a white
porcelain doorknob as the base so I glued it in and guess what? It just rocked and rolled all
over the counter...rocked and rolled and rolled! I could not get her to sit up straight for me
at all!
She is now dubbed my "ROCK AND ROLL TREE".

On to plan B...which was sitting the doorknob in a vintage silver
creamer. I can't get her out of the door knob unless I ruin it in the process.
Hubby says to put something on the bottom of the knob so she will set up straight,
but I haven't accomplished that yet. :)

I am working on another white tree, but she isn't quite finished yet. She looks much
different being all white and shorter. Each one is unique and fun to make. 

Are you ready for Christmas?

I am not ready.

Hubby's work being the only income in our family for the most part, and him losing his job
 has thrown a kink in some of our plans.

Please pray with me that he will find a new job soon. This isn't just a lay off and back
to work...they closed the plant. No warning. Wonderful Christmas present eh? Just
makes a person wonder.  To top it off...I don't get near as much done during
the day now with him home and the man thinks he needs to eat at lunch time.

What in the world is up with that??

On a roll ~

I have been on a roll lately, churning out altered bottles left and right so today
I am taking a break. The one above is one of my favorites. I know...there is COLOR
in it and not my typical neutrals, but I still love it. 

It is embellished with genuine old lace, vintage velvet and rayon ribbon, part of an
old valentine, rhinestones and the word "friend" cut out of an old songbook. 

I adore the old velvet ribbon. This was a labor of love because I truly wanted to keep
every piece of the velvet for myself, but I decided to put one small piece on the bottle and
I think it is perfect.

I always love to embellish bottles with Paris themes and this one is no exception.

I sure hope that I get to visit this beautiful city someday. :)

With Valentines day just around the corner, I used an old valentine on this one along
with old music pages and vintage lace.

Innocence...what a beauty. I have had this bottle and the Paris one half done for literally
months and it was time to finish them. This one has part of an old ledger on it that is dated
in the 1800's. 

{All three of these bottles are already sold}

I whipped up this little love potion bottle yesterday.

I must get back to creating soon, but for now I am taking a break. How about you?

A bevy of mini cloches

Aren't these the cutest little cloches you have

ever seen?

When I found nine of these at the Goodwill I

immediately scooped them up.

I am guessing that they were once used to hold

candles, but the shape is perfect for a cloche.

Just for fun I put some of my eggs under them and

added some white crinkle ribbon.

Unlimited possibilities of what you could put under these cuties!

Found: Old white door

I decided to play around a little with my wall art and decor

and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out...

at least for now.

Remember this wonderful piece from a previous post? I decided it was time to do something different

with it so I took out the hydrangeas and replaced

them with these goodies.

Some of these photos aren't the greatest, but this

is my pantry area and there is not a lot of light.

{I have since pushed the flashcard down farther as

shown in the first photo}

I added a pair of my candles along with vintage paper shred,

an old photograph, a flashcard and a handmade envelope

that my last package of Etsy goodies came packaged in.

I put it all on an old white door that I found antiquing a few weeks ago. I love the detailed doorknob!

I schleped this door from the shop to the house all by myself a few days ago. I backed the car up to the shop, put it in the trunk, drove in the garage and unloaded it. After hitting the top of the garage door with it a few times I finally got it into the house. :)

I had originally wanted to put some french wording or numbers on that back part of this piece. One of these days I will get around to that when I decide what I want. Any suggestions?

I purchased the door for $12 intending to use it in my booth eventually, but for now it resides in my home and I love it.

{no your head is not crooked. lol. our floors in this area of our ancient house are crooked. I am going to have hubby make me a piece of shim. I suppose I would be a little crooked if I was over 100 years old too}

She plays with paper

This is my latest project. I have been wanting to to this

for quite some time now and the other night while watching

TV with hubby there was no better time to start. Are you

like that? I hate to just sit and watch that thing and do

nothing else. This was a perfect project. Just start ripping

paper and gluing it on the suitcase.

Now please don't look too close because I haven't done

this for years and I have noticed several boo boo's I made

along the way. #1. I realized there should probably not be any white

showing on the edges, but too late.

#2. I could have gone over the white edges lightly with

some stain or ink pad, but Sandi got in a hurry and

had already sealed the outside too!

#3. There are some places I had to fill in with tiny pieces

of paper and now I really should go over them with

larger pieces to make it look better.

I do love how it turned out over all though.

I just may pack my suitcase and travel the country! lol

I added a couple tags that I had made along with some ribbon and string.

I am guessing that this bag could not get lost on an

airplane...but then maybe it could. :)

Now to do something with the inside. I really did this

just for fun and to sit around, but the inside is

a dark burgundy...ugh it just doesn't go!

So what do you think? Something fun to sit and stare

at even with all the mistakes??

I am now on the hunt for more suitcases...cheap!

The first day I started this I only finished one side because

I thought "oh I need to take a before picture". So I get up

the next day all set to get started again and start I did. Never looked back until it was done! And then I remembered

that I was going to take a BEFORE photo...oh well...
