Buttons and lace

Did you notice my new sidebar buttons?

I love them!

I was going to change to a three column layout,
but thought better of that with my slow dial up
so for now I just had Karen make me some pretty
buttons.

{ you thought I was going to talk about
vintage buttons didn't you? *smile*}

a vintage lace covered jelly jar
that I made just for me ~
{sometimes we need to keep at least
one item that we make. lol.}
Canisters full of old lace and vintage hankies ~ lace scarves that I found at the antique mall for $1.00 each...I bought all three.
They are very long and just gorgeous.
The two white scarves have this
*paper white* label
and another tag that says,

"entirely hand made lace
100% cotton
made in Brazil"...

they are so beautiful!

Wishing you a gorgeous Thursday.
It is over 80 degrees here today in
Michigan. YAY!

Thought for the day:

*God is so big that He can cover the whole world
with His love and so small He can curl up inside
your heart*

Blessings~

Button, button...who's got the button?

I do!

Isn't this button gorgeous?
Do you notice the *S* monogram too?

I had my *birthday* lunch with my best friend
today and did she ever wow me with gifts.
I told her she went overboard, but I do love them all!
I was the recipient of a large white doily and pineapple
pincushion that was her grandmothers.
She also gave me two hankies with monogrammed *S* initials and this gorgeous button.
She had lovingly tucked each item inside a set of clear glass
canisters. I am going to use them to store some of my
vintage goodies such as lace, hankies etc.
Aren't they wonderful ??
Also included were these two pillows!

Thank you so much my dear friend!!
You made my day...
my month...
well actually my year!! :) I will always treasure our friendship !

As if that were not enough she also bought
me lunch at Seasons Bistro
and I had a cranberry turkey panini
that was so yummy!! {along with chips and a pickle spear}

I just have to share the card she gave me too.
It said on the front:
"How can we be getting older?"
then on the inside, "we still don't know what we want to be
when we grow up!"...lol.

I hope each one of you has a dear friend that you can count
on through thick or thin, good times and bad
and if you don't , then that is my wish for you.

Blessings~

White Wednesday and new glasses ~

Can you believe I ate the whole thing??

{ I tried to be extra careful so it wouldn't look too messy...lol}

Now ladies...do you wear glasses?? If you have had
your eyes checked anytime lately you know that there
are literally hundreds of glasses to choose from.

I finally narrowed it down to two pair.
I wanted something very
different and I accomplished that, but....
I can't handle the bifocals...no line bifocals.

My first time ever with bifocals and I thought it would
take me a few days to get adjusted,
but these just aren't working for me.

I restocked my booth yesterday and went to a couple
antique stores and just couldn't handle anymore.
My eyes were so fatigued from trying to see right!
It should not be that hard to see in my opinion...
so I called my optometrist when I got home.

Told them I wanted regular glasses and get rid of the
bifocals and I will just continue to take them off
to read. They want me to come in and have them
adjusted and see if that works any better...give it two
weeks and if not then they will change them for me.

I did ask...*ahem* ..."do I have to pay for this change?"

{I about had to mortage my home for this pair as it was}

and she sweetly told me no....thank God!
So the glasses saga continues... I do LOVE the glasses
{see new profile pix} just not the bifocals...
they even have *bling* on the sides!

I will be at the dentist today when you are reading
this...probably having a tooth pulled. Or rather...
what is left of one...ugh!!

update: tooth is gone! No problems at all...God is good!

The Beauty of Simplicity ~

beauty>noun (pl. beauties) a combination of qualities that delights the asthetic senses
simple>plain and uncomplicated in form, nature or design

Simple bleeding hearts and a vintage netting hanky ~
Simple pink peony resting against my potting shed~ Simple vintage rose that graced a dress I wore as a child~ Simple pink spirea blossoms ~

Take time to enjoy the simple things in your life every day ~

I have always loved this song:

Simple Gifts

"Tis the gift to be simple
tis the gift to be free
tis the gift to come down where you ought to be
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
It will be in the valley of love and delight".

Also, just a little exciting news for me. I was asked by Christine Annette to be an author on her blog Faded No. 22 and I happily obliged. My first post is up so be sure and check it out. You can click here .

Blogging Kindness~

I am overwhelmed with blogging *KINDNESS* today! Saturday after our wonderful day out at the beautiful Arboretum I had an envelope waiting for me in the mail. It was from Marietta of Sweet Old Vintage and in it was this gorgeous scrappy that she made! I love it!! Thank you so much Marietta...it made a special day out even more special!
Then today I was painting away on my back porch and checked outside the door to see if the mailman had picked up my packages. To my wonderful surprise there was a package waiting for me ! This package was from Lady Pamela of Lady Pamela's Cottage. I was so wonderfully surprised at each and every little thing that she sent me! Thank you so much!
This homemade card is so pretty~
Gorgeous pink rose napkins~
A beautiful needlework vintage hanky ~
*LOVE* this little soapdish with the sweet bird on top ~
Have you ever seen such a neat tape measure?? It has a tassle that you pull and out comes the tape ! Too adorable!
*CHOCOLATE*...I am so anxious to try these. Pamela said they are made right in her town of Aldergrove about 10 minutes walk from her house! YUMM~
A *PINK* butterfly galand that just says *HELLO SPRING* ~
She also had all this wrapped in a vintage linen napkin. I am so grateful to both Marietta and Pamela for thinking of me and showering me with such kindness! God knows I needed a lift and these ladies gave it to me in such a special way! I hope your giving comes back to you many times over! Blessings~

Pink Saturday ~ Vintage Treats

This is my first time participating in Beverly's Pink Saturday over at How Sweet the Sound and I tried to come up with a unique idea to start things off. Do you remember playing this game at parties? You put several items on a tray and pass it around for a limited time and then you take it away and everyone tries to remember what was on the tray? That was my inspiration for this post. I hope you enjoy all my vintage "pink goodies" today ~ I have amassed quite a collection of paint chips and one of these days I will think of something to do with them. I love this little pink cat pin...it is from my childhood ~
Gotta love these vintage "BON TON" buttons! Several years ago when I was visiting my sister in Pennsylvania she took me to a Salvation Army thrift store which was known jokingly out there as the "Bon Ton". When I found these buttons sometime later, I just had to pick them up !
Lots of vintage goodness here ~
Vintage pink rick rack, lace and hanky and straight pins ~
Do you remember these pink curler picks from years ago?? I found an unopened package and added them to my collection of vintage goodness ~
I hope you enjoyed my trip down "memory lane" and if you have time today go ahead and study my pictures for a few minutes and then see if you can remember all the goodies displayed! Have a wonderful day! Blessings~
