Spring in Michigan

SPRING
has finally arrived in Michigan and I am so happy!

If you have ever lived here you know that one day it can be 75 degrees
and the next day we can have snow. ugh.
I hope and pray that the snow is over with for the year.

Lilacs are starting to bloom along with all the other spring flowers.

I just LOVE this time of year when everything is new.

My tiny grape hyacinth.

I love the tiny and delicate size of these beauties.

My pretty pink phlox!

Look at the center of them. So beautiful and perfect. Each and every one.

Isn't it amazing what our creator does?!!

Every spring I look out my kitchen window to see this flowering pear and I laugh.

The trunk is so small compared to the branches of the tree!

We have been told that these snap in high winds very easy because of this,
but so far we haven't lost ours.
If that day ever comes, I will literally sit down and cry!

Pretty violets. We used to find these in the woods whenever we would take walks years ago.
So perfect and delicate.

Lilacs are my favorite springtime flowers, but they wreak havoc
with my sinuses so I can't bring them inside. I can enjoy them out on my
front porch though.

I have dark purple lilacs and this pretty light lavender color. I dug up and planted a
couple starts of  this one maybe five years ago and they have thrived for me.

All I did was stick a shovel in the ground, push back the dirt and stick in the
tiny shoot! I have decided this is the way I must plant from now on because
we have bought trees that we have taken care to dig the hole the right size,
add all the stuff to make the soil right etc and they do not live for us.
Crazy!!

The plants along the garden path are starting to wake up.
I will say it again:

I LOVE this time of year!

Our forsythia bush is putting on quite a show this year. It is gorgeous and huge.
We moved it several years ago because it was getting way too big in front of
our back porch. I told hubby it would never live since it was already several years old
and well established, but it proved me wrong! YAY for me being wrong. ha!

I hope you all are doing well and I hope to get back to more blogging this year.
Last year was a horrible one and I pray that this year brings many unexpected blessings
from heaven above. We are coming up on the year anniversary since we lost our
granddaughter Eden Rain and that will be a very hard day. Please keep our family
in your prayers if you think about it. God is helping us, but we sure miss her.

Porch curtains, flowers and cutie patooties!

I am just thrilled with how my galvanized tub has
performed for me this year. Last year we had tomatoes
planted in it and it looks so much prettier this way
don't you think?

I planted ivy geraniums, hops, allysum along with an
asparagus fern.

The allysum (snowdrift or snow something??) is spilling over the edges very nicely.

Very light pink geranium

Oh my look who snuck into my post!! Aren't they just the cutest ever!!! Big sister Keira and little brother Kanaan.
My oldest son's children. Can you tell that Keira loves him to death??
{I don't think he minds being loved on either!} love this picture of them!
{Kanaan got his boo boo when we were out there
last time to visit, but he took it like a little man!}

my back deck...don't look too close ,but I spy greenish
stuff on part of it so I guess it is time to get out the
power washer again.lol.
{The fence came home from my booth}

Here is my front porch from a couple posts ago where I
didn't get this shot added. Thought you might want
to see the whole thing.

and WA LA......I hung curtains on the porch!!!! What do you think? I posted on facebook that I think the neighbors
think I am batty for putting them up, but I don't
care. Sure makes a nice peaceful place to sit and I
love it when they blow in the breeze.
I didn't buy one thing...took these out of my stash
from a garage sale last year. I think it was a huge
scarf type curtain. I ripped it in two and love it!

It has been an interesting time here lately at the Wayside
Treasures household. Last week we had to have a new
starter put on our car (2003) and a four wheel alignment
($400), this week new struts put on (over $600 , but
thankfully not the $800 they quoted us),
$250 spent on roofing materials for replacing a
tiny roof, and a yet to be seen price for a
lawnmower part. Hubby will pick that up tomorrow
after work. Can you believe I push mowed part
of our lawn today? We have almost three acres,
maybe two that we mow and I would NOT
want to mow it all that way! I sure got a
workout though!

I was trying to find a silver lining in all this
money going out and I did. Thankfully it happened now
and not when hubby was laid off a year and a half ago. God is good!!!

Now scoot on over to Faded Charm where I

know Kathleen has many lovely white posts
for you to view again this week.

{PS disclaimer here again...still can't get to many of
your WW posts because of my slow dial-up internet,
but I do keep trying. One of these days!!}

For those of you who asked the antique mall
where Leslie's french booth is:

Memories Antique Mall
4036 W. Grand Blanc Rd.
Swartz Creek, Michigan 48473
{just off of US 23 a mile or two}

Blessings~

Sweet Autumn Clematis

I am on the hunt for one of these beauties...
Sweet Autumn Clematis.
Do any of you grow them? According to what I read online they are easy to grow and
are abundant with these gorgeous white flowers in the fall.

I took the above photo and the one below at the Fall Festival. Not sure if it is the clematis or another gorgeous flowering vine. Help?? anyone??

It's shaping up to be one of those days today...
I have a sore on top of my nose
{it resembles a pimple which I never get let alone on my
nose. I will not be venturing out in public today. lol. },
I caught a nasty cold that has settled in my throat.
It kept me awake most of the night and I am
constantly clearing my throat or coughing,
AND the furnace is not working. Why is it that in the spring when we are done using
the furnace it works fine and then in the fall it won't
come on.This will be our 2nd or 3rd year of this
happening and having to call in a repair man.
It is not that old for this to keep happening every year.
Hubby says the diagnostic is flashing 9 times so I got out the instructions today and this is what it says
for nine red flashes,
"grounding or line polarity fault"...
don't have a clue!
Now that I got that out, I am going to try and put on my
thankful hat today for all the postives in my life and try
not to focus on the negative.
Have a lovely fall day.
Blessings~
