A trip to children's hospital...update

Granddaughter number 1

Allysha Lynn

her and I like peas in a pod.

{this photo was taken at her house
when we were getting ready to leave
to come back home after visiting one weekend}

Hard to believe that she was this little once

Look what I found grandma!

my beautiful fairy growing up

Ready for a tea party

My sweet Allysha. She is our first grandchild and
her and her mommy {our daughter} lived with us
for four years after she was born.

I took care of her while her mother worked and
basically raised her at that time. We have always been
very close. Many were the times after her mother got
married and moved two hours away that Allysha would
come and stay with me for several days and when
they would leave to go home both our hearts would
break. I would watch time after time as they drove
away with Allysha looking out the window crying
for me and I will admit that I cried too.

But she is growing up and with that comes
understanding for her {and me} that she can't be
with grandma all the time. lol.

{She is 11 now almost 12}
Fast forward to this past year. She has had many
blood draws and tests for a muscle problem and
yesterday she had to go to the big city.
Mott Children's hospital
in Ann Arbor Michigan for
a biopsy. I went along to watch my two grandsons
{her brothers} Have you ever had a five year old
and a 1 and 1/2 year old sitting in a hospital waiting
room for over five hours?? I was amazed at how
well behaved they are and very thankful as well!

A story for you from yesterday:
Jon had to go potty {five year old} so we headed
for the restrooms.
I was going to take him in with me when he
informed me that he is not a girl , but a boy! {ha}
I waited and waited and waited outside that men's
hospital bathroom and finally I cracked open the
door and said
JON ARE YOU OKAY?...
to which he replied
yes, but I can't reach the toilet paper.

Oh my...what a dilema...what to do...didn't really want to
go into the mens restroom when along came this
handsome young gentleman headed into the bathroom
and I asked him if he could help me out. He gave Jon
toilet paper and I waited some more. The young gentleman
came out laughing so much and said, "boy is he a talker"
{SO SO TRUE...doesn't ever stop talking...lol}
then he told me that Jon said "thank you very much"
and he was still laughing as he walked away.

I waited some more and then I heard him talking inside
the bathroom to an older gentleman that had gone inside.
I thought Jon was just going to stay in there and visit
with everyone who came in. ha!
I finally heard the older gentleman say, "I am going out
now and you should too...so the door opens and out they
come with the older gentleman laughing too. Okay maybe you had to be there, but it was funny
at the time.
This is a long post so I will end , but please
keep my Lyshie in your prayers.

update: I should have said that so far they have
found absolutely
nothing wrong...praying it will stay that way.
God is good!!

Blessings~

Apple Orchard Visit

We visited an apple orchard while at my daughter's
last weekend and I was able to snap a few photos to
share with you. Don't you just love all these cute
tiny pumpkins and gourds?

Larger white pumpkins for purchase...
they need a bath! lol

Loved this assortment of pumpkins/squash. My granddaughter thought some looked like they were covered with peanut shells.

I brought this greenish/yellowish one on the left side of the photo home with me. I think it is some type of squash, but I just loved the shape.

lovely produce

Hubby and son-in-law tasted the cheese, but I passed. I am sure it was yummy though.

organic popcorn

assorted honey sticks in many flavors for 25 cents each

of course we can't forget the apples! lol

pretty pot sitting outside

GD Allysha, GS Jon and DH on the hay ride we
went on. It was raining so it was nice they had a tarp
over the top!

The driver was supposed to stop at the pumpkin
patch and let us pick one out , but that didn't happen
for some reason so we just picked out a prepriced one
when we got back.
It was a very fun day despite all the rainy icky weather.
Hope you enjoyed your tour !

Oh yes, I missed photos of the most important part. lol.
They make donuts right there at the orchard and of
course we purchased some. They were delish!!

I don't intentionally spoil my grandkids...

...it's just that correcting them often
takes more energy than I have left.
~Gene Perret

I snagged these photos from my daughter. My son-in-law took them at an estate near their home and I love them!!
Candid shots of my sweeties.

This is Joshua...he had to be propped up. :)

Allysha ~ our first grandchild and she is 11
years old already!

Perfect love sometimes does not come
until the first grandchild.
~Welsh Proverb

Love this photo!! {mommy snuck in there too}

What a sweetie!

Can I get down now?

Enough already!

I sure hope we are almost done, don't you Jon?

I will leave you with some wonderful grandparent quotes:

I wish I had the energy that my grandchildren have -
if only for self-defense.
~Gene Perret

My granddaughter came to spend a few weeks with me,
and I decided to teach her to sew.
After I had gone through a lengthy explanation
of how to thread the machine,
she stepped back,
put her hands on her hips,
and said in disbelief,
"You mean you can do all that,
but you can't play my Game Boy?"
~Author Unknown

What a bargain grandchildren are!
I give them my loose change,
and they give me a million dollars' worth
of pleasure.

Have a blessed Tuesday~

Exhausting, but fun weekend and giveaway cont...

We had a exhausting weekend, but it was fun too!
It started on Friday with me driving two hours one way
to pick up oldest granddaughter, shopped a little and
then drove back home. {It becomes an all day event
when I have to drive that far}

Then we had made plans to go to the Toledo Zoo on
Saturday with our youngest son and his family and the
rain
did not deter us at all! We all ended up buying
and wearing plastic ponchos, but it was so much fun.

Here is little Annika in hers. She kept pretending she was a ghost.
She kept holding her arms out
and saying, *BOOooo*.

Hubby and son in their wonderful statement making
gear! lol.

Sweet grands Allysha and Annika having so much fun! They got soaked crawling up on these animals , but
you would never know it by the looks on their
faces. {we hadn't purchased ponchos yet at this point}

Then Sunday after church was putt putt golf and go cart fun. I think this adorable little face says it all. About the 14th or 15th hole she was tired! Poor little thing!

Oldest GD Allysha driving a go cart for the first time.
She was apprehensive at first, but then really
enjoyed it and did great at driving. She needs to get out more!

Look at little Annika's tongue! Too cute!
Now I am telling you we had the most fun a family can
have, but this is wearing me out! lol Then today I had to go to my booth because I didn't
make it at all last week so we hit the road again.
I am staying home tomorrow and resting...
that is the plan anyways.
Then Wednesday I have to take Allysha back...
more driving. I will need a two day nap when this
is over. :)

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday! Blessings~

Time for tea...wear your hat!

These are pictures of my oldest granddaughter
Allysha Lynn
when she went to a tea earlier this summer.
{11 years old}

Isn't she just adorable in her vintage hat? If memory serves me correctly, she found
it at a resale shop and loved it.

I think I may have a teesny chance with
this granddaughter loving vintage items like me.
I hope so...keeping my fingers crossed...
oh okay, I am really, really
wishing on a star! *smile*

I thought I would share a favorite tea time
sandwich that I have used a lot over the
years and it gets rave reviews.

Cream Cheese, Celery and Walnut Sandwiches

1/4 lb cream cheese, room temperature 1/4 celery heart, very finely chopped
1/4 cup diced walnuts
White or whole wheat bread
Parsley sprigs {for garnish}

In a small bowl beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Mix in celery and walnuts. Make sandwiches with
cheese mixture. Trim off crusts of bread and
cut sandwiches into rectangles or triangles.
Garnish plate with sprigs of parsley.
{I also make these open faced on small bread squares
like the *party rye*, but I use sourdough I think }

It is rather warm here again today and supposed to be
warmer tomorrow. I did get to town and purchased
some paint so hopefully I can start painting my
pantry area soon. Have wanted to do that for quite
some time now. What are you doing this week?

***********************************************

We have a wedding anniversary this week...our 33rd.
I can't believe it. Where have the years gone?
We have most certainly have had
our ups and downs and spats just like anyone else,
but God is good and He has been so good to us.
Wouldn't trade my man for the moon! :)

My oldest son also has a 7th wedding anniversary
today. He posted this on facebook...I thought
it was cute:

*‎7 years ago today, I married the woman of dreams...
woke up this morning and, to my delight, she was still there!*

He makes me laugh, makes me proud and is a delightful son.
I wish them many more wonderful years together!!

Pot of Gold ?

Can you believe that there was no pot of gold
at the end of this gorgeous rainbow?
I even called and asked my dad if he found one
because the rainbow appeared to end right
over the top of his house. lol.
Fun times!

It has been raining here all day long...
kinda gloomy, but that made me
think of the rainbow...
and God's promises to us.

Jeanne d' Arc Living Eggs

Remember last week or maybe even the week before
when I told you I was creating some eggs...
I wanted to make them on the order of the
Jeanne d' Arc Living Magazine pictures.

This is as far as I got. I purchased the paper mache eggs,
covered them with pieces of french book pages,
and glued vintage lace around the middle.
I had good intentions to do more, but
time got away from me.

This is my sweet granddaughter Allysha holding them for me.

I have to tell you that when we had the Easter egg hunt yesterday, {pictures on post below} I looked inside the window and Jon was holding these eggs! He thought these were the ones they were hunting for. lol My daughter-in-law came to the rescue and put them up for me. Oh the innocence of small children!

Happy Monday everyone!! Blessings~
